Yea that was a real even round...

Silva landed ZERO strikes, attempting just two.

Sonnen landed 76-of-86 strikes (14-of-21 significant strikes), scored one takedown and improved position on the ground twice.

Im not going to argue Sonnen did any significant damage in the first round (because he didnt) but all this Silva nuthugging is getting ridiculous. He gets mounted and doesnt land a single punch for the entire round and thats another "display of Silva's greatness and well rounded game"?????
Hahaha so much truth.

Seems like Sonnen fans loved to hear Sonnen dish it for years and try to believe he would win for the last 2 years. Then when he loses his fans seem to want peace and every to pat Sonnen on the back.

How is Sonnen down? He just got the opportunity to fight for the world title for the 2nd time when he was a career decent fighter who has an iffy UFC record. A guy who had no buzz around him at all.

Sonnen fans want everyone to say "poor Chael' now....when they were laughing all day every day whenever Chael pulled a cheap shot on ANderson.

Sort of sad how that works. They were the loudest people in the MMA world for 2 they want everyone to just be quiet because they now have nothing to say.

Nope, there is one at 4:20 (counting down), which wasn't very hard. Other than that there were no real elbows, only some soft bumps with the quadriceps.

Besides that 2 middle hard fist punches at 4:45 and 3 at 1:45 the rest are soft pats.

I think the first fight is proof positive that Anderson Silva doesn't break. He was projecting how he would have reacted in that situation onto Anderson.

Stumbled to the wrong corner... were we watching the same thing? He playfully trotted to a neutral corner... he didnt look beat, he looked like he was having a good old time. And yes even guys who are winning can mistake their corner out of 8 of them... it happens.

Silva has spent a lot of time on his back getting elbowed and pounded on by some pretty tough guys, but keeps his cool and avoids big damage better than anyone. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen him with even a cut - they need to check to see if that dude is human!

I think Sonnen was implying that he thought he broke Silva in the first round, and not that he actually did. He's not giving himself credit for his performance in the first round, he's giving Silva credit for how mentally tough he is.
Some of you need to get a grip.

I think what Sonnen thought was AS breaking was actually him relaxing. During the fight you can see AS take some deep breaths and close his eyes. I can very easily see how Sonnen on top of him would feel like this man is broken. Then again shortly after Sonnen passed guard and even got to mount, so all facts during the fight would have concluded that Sonnen was right from his point of view.

I can easily see why Sonnen thought he broke him. It doesn't make it the reality of what happened, but I can see his point of view.
