Hmmmm...definitely respect Jon Jones explanation more than GSP's explanation, it's pretty reasonable. Especially the sponsership deal, someone is bound to lose money because of this, and then there's the spot on their legacy...

I'd rather not see them fight, but I have a feeling they're going to fight for some reason; maybe Anderson's retirement match.

he says its a lose lose situation but its actually a win win win situation, hopefully this is all a ploy to make both fighters seem reluctant, so that dana will fork out some heavy dough to actually make it happen

If jones trash talked silva we would forever be hearing how ignorant and cocky jones is. And as if we dont already...

It really comes down if Jon Jones takes him down can he finish him.
You mean the fight in which Machida touched Jones a couple of times but never came close to fazing him, much less rocking him, and eventually got dropped?

Machida did not have success in the stand-up. That's a myth. All he did was buy some time.

You need to rewatch the first round. Machida dominated the fight standing in that round. I actually thought machida was going to win until in the 2nd round jones got machida down.

Machida did rock jones, made him stumble backwards and jones had to catch himself with his hands.

Do not know what fight you watched. Up until jones getting machida down, Machida looked like he was going to pull it off.

Perhaps you should realize that this isn't UFC 5 anymore. There aren't just 5 good fighters. This isn't Royce Gracie fighting at an open weight. Things have changed if you haven't noticed.

At one time Anderson was a top 2 Welterweight in the world.

He has been the best Middleweight in the world for years now.

What more do you want him to do? This isn't the WWE. You can't just make any and all matches. These are pro fighters not machines. If you expect every great fighter to fight all and any fighters...well then you have just been too spoiled over the years.

He was aggressive and set the pace. he connected a couple of times, but on a backpedaling Jones. Not much power there.

If you thought Machida was going to win it based on the first round you're extremely optimistic.

I would've given him the round, don't get me wrong, but by default.

And then Jones figured him out and put him away.

Seriously? Machida aggresive...? Come on now. Machida picked his shots.

You are right, Jones did figure him out, but Machida did better than any of Jones other opponents and I think most people would agree on that.

I'm always torn on superfights. This would be so cool to see, but I'd rather someone dethrone of these two, as opposed to one losing a superfight. I would also be torn on who would win- it feels like Bones has the perfect blueprint to beat Silva, but it is impossible to picture Silva losing in the UFC.

so both want to go down as GOATs but they won't fight each other?
Silva has been doing a few fights in LHW, it's not like it never happened there.

So they have both much to lose, and that's exactly what makes fights interesting.

They both are set for life, so the money excuse is an insult to those struggling for their own income (and they are many nowadays)

Jones's mask has fallen. He's a great fighter, but I really don't like the human being (or at least what he shows in the media, I'm sure he's a great dude in real life, but comes off as a pretentious, self centered jerk in any of his interviews)

And I don't see how GSP reason (health) is worse than Jones one (money)
