Matt Riddle wants Dan Hardy for his next bout, but Hardy is not interested

Quote:
Matt Riddle made a statement both during and after his win over Chris Clements at UFC 149. During the fight, he showed he was ready for tougher competition by countering Clements' spinning backfist with an arm triangle choke that started standing and moved to the ground. At the post-fight press conference, he named that tougher competition: Dan Hardy.
It turns out Riddle had a bad experience when he fought at UFC 105 in Manchester, and he wants to take it out on Hardy.

"I will be completely honest," Riddle said.
"When I fought in Manchester, England, (for UFC 105), they were very cruel to me. One fan actually spit directly in my face, and he was lucky enough where it hit my mouth. To be disrespected like that ... for some butter-toothed Brit to spit in my mouth, that was some bull. And honestly it's never been the same."

Though he also said he doesn't have anything against Brits, he does want to take out Hardy. Unfortunately, Hardy already has a fight scheduled with Amir Sadollah at UFC on Fuel 5 in September.
The other hindrance? Hardy doesn't want the bout.

Why the hell would I fight Riddle? There is no value in it for me and I'd be forced to look at him more than I have to now.

Considering the run of injuries the UFC has experienced, a back-up fight is never a bad idea. Hardy won his last bout after a four-fight losing streak. Riddle won his last two fights. Should this fight happen? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or Twitter.

I don't know, when your 1-4 in your last 5 you really shouldn't be talking about the value of your opponents imo.

I can see Dan's point but it's not too smart.

Taking the Riddle fight would be bad for him in terms of drawing value but like you said atm Hardy should be focused on getting a win streak going no matter who his opponents are.

I think he'd beat Riddle and i think he'll beat Sadollah which would put him on a 3 fight win streak, surely thats better than getting high profile fights and losing!

Riddle doesnt fight smart but if he takes hardy down, which i am fairly certain he can, he would dominate him as he is much stronger and bigger.
Imo its a bad fight for Hardy because he can easily lose it.

Dangerous fight for Hardy.

If he wins he gets a solid name because everybody knows that Riddle is tough as nails.

If he loses I can see Zuffa cutting him or sending him to Strikeforce.

Hardy/Marquardt would be fun to watch tho..

I hate reading about him being spat on, embarrassing for the whole nation.

I think Hardy takes this handily cause Ridddle can be dragged into brawls which Hardy would win. If he can get Dan down though it's a dangerous game.

Thanks to Leakler for the sig

Riddle would dominate Hardy if he came in with a grappling gameplan. That's the last thing Hardy needs right now after just getting a win is a dangerous fight against a largely unknown fighter.

The funny thing is Riddle was actually picking an easy fight in Hardy and Hardy thinks Riddle is trying to make a name for himself.

Of course Dan does'nt want this fight. Riddle would take him down and win a UD just like any other wrestler has done against Dan Hardy.

It has nothing to do with value, hardy has lost 4 out of his last 5 fights and does not need another loss.

And who is Hardy to turn down an opponant, he should just be thankful he is still in the UFC.

Fav Fighters:
BJ
GSP
Askren
JDS
Belcher
Shogun
Fedor
Hendo
Sonnen

Not that I think Hardy is some world beater.

But man, it is a scary fight for him because Riddle got a sub win over a can the other night?

Riddle is a big dude, but he is really quite wild. I think Hardy would find his chin.

Hardy has a crappy grappling game. But getting dominated by GSP is a tad different than what Riddle will bring.

Riddle is sort of a dumb ass. He wants to fight Hardy because a Brit fan spit on him? He is calling out a guy who has a fight lined up already?

Riddle is a goofball.

How can you turn down a fight that the UFC didn't offer him? How can you turn down a fight when you have another fight you are training for?

Riddle is making up fake beef and Hardy just feels it is stupid.

Don't really see how the guy is turning down a fight.
