Article: Brian Stann vs Michael Bisping: Fight fans will not complain about UFC 152

http://www.mmamania.com/2012/7/24/31...-fight-ufc-152

Quote:
Brian Stann was the lucky winner in the Michael Bisping sweepstakes when Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) matchmakers paired him up with "The Count" at UFC 152 on Sept. 22, 2012, which will take place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

After cruising past Alessio Sakara at UFC on Fuel TV: "Gustafsson vs. Silva" via vicious first round knockout, Stann will now look to solidify his spot in the suddenly crowded Middleweight division with a win over the brash Brit. A win won't necessarily warrant a title shot for the former Marine, but it will inch him closer to facing 185-pound kingpin Anderson Silva (lucky him).

Known for his tenacity and power, Stann assured fans and media in attendance at today's (July 24, 2012) UFC 152 press conference that even though some people, including UFC President Dana White, may have been disappointed with some of the fights at this past weekend's (July 21, 2012) UFC 149 event, people will have nothing to complain about when he and Bisping go toe-to-toe in Canada.

Check it out:

Quote:
"He is an incredible fighter. I think he was one of the most under-rated fighters in the UFC and I think he is finally starting to get the respect he deserves for the body of work he has put together in a long career. This is a huge fight for me. It's a fight that people knew were coming and to fight a guy like Michael Bisping, who, let's face it, he is a much bigger star in the UFC than I am. This is a huge opportunity for me and I think that I have a lot more to gain in this fight that anybody else. It absolutely does (put him in title contention). Out of all those guys that are there vying for a title shot, he is the best-rounded. He is the one whose done a grater body of work at 185. So, I think it pushed me ahead of everybody, but I will probably have to fight one more time to get the title shot, that's fine by me, I don't care. I just want to fight the best guys in the worlds for as long as I am able to do this. I am not interested in just fighting in the UFC to sign autographs and wear weird T-shirts. I want to fight the best guys in the world so that when I am done with this sport, I know exactly where I Stand. I don't want easy fights."
"The All American" also went on to say that "The Count's" antics will have no bearing on him:

Quote:
"I've said this before, when you've had to look a mother in the eyes and tell her why you couldn't bring her son home, it makes all of this that much easier. This is just a fist fight. This is something I am really good at, it's something I love doing. None of these antics are going to matter to me. I don't get very nervous when I fight. I love to do it. Come September 22, I am going to draw a line in the sand, I am going to say, 'Mike. Cross it.' He is the kind of guy that I know will step to it and we are going to get after it. I am telling you right now folks. You may have complained about certain fights that were on the card this past weekend, you won't complain about ours."
How about it Maniacs, do you agree with Stann? Will his bout against "The Count" live up to the expectations and erase the memory that was UFC 149? Does a win over Bisping inch him close to an eventual showdown with "The Spider?" Or do Vitor Belfort, Chris Weidman and Alan Belcher have a better chance to leapfrog him?
Stann is very complimentary of Bisping. In the past attitudes like this seem to bother Bisping because he hates "verbally attacking" someone and they don't respond. Hendo is a great example, he seemed more frustrated about the lack of a verbal duel than prepping for the fight.

Stann sounds like he is taking this very serious, but also knows that this isn't the fight that is going to give him a title shot unless he replicates Hendo on Bisping.

Bisping is driving up ratings that's all. He knows deep down inside he and most people for that matter would not be able to experience what Stann has in his tours.

Man two of the fighters I wanted to see fight against Anderson are pitted against tough opposition; Belcher vs Vitor and now Bisping vs Stann.

I will be very surprised if Bisping TKOs Stann.

A sub would (or should) be more likely. Or a UD, it's co-main event right, 3 rounds?

What;s Stann's cardio like when he's really pushed? I never saw his WEC fights.

It should be a good fight but unless Bisping mixes up his takedowns really well I could see Stann putting him out, Stann has massive power and Bisping got hit good against Akiyama and Old Man Rivera, I have no doubt Stann can beat him up if he can keep it standing.

Stann has faded in the past, but he also pushes through it. He isn't one of those guys who fades and then hardly does anything, just his punches come slower and don't hit as hard.

Think Bisping might get his head kicked in here. Really wish everyoneone would shut up about Stann in the army, it isn't relevant and is beyond boring.

Actually he was in the Marines, and it is relevant as it explains him being the way he is, just as much as us being reminded that fighters train at Blackhouse, etc.

This should be interesting. Can Stann KO Bisbing? Can Bisbing avoid the KO and outpoint Stann? Or will something completely unexpected happen? This should be an awesome fight.
