personally, i think mario yamasaki is a terrible and insecure ref. take a look at the chuck/tito 2 fight, he was going to stop it after tito fell in the first round u can tell as he ran toward chuck , which would have been a bad stoppage. then, he stops the fight in the 3rd round, and that was also a terrible stoppage, tito was defending himself.

Did anyone else notice that?

I didn't like that..
Big john wasn't couching anybody, couture had four points on the ground, hands and feet, making it illegal for sylvia to knee randy. John probably saw that tim wanted to knee randy and stated that there are no knees from that position. Randy probably dropped his knee because timmy was leaning all that weight on him to keep randy from taking im down, nothing dirty at all going on.

If Randy had four points on the ground, then my mistake but I remember it differently. At the time it looked like he did not. I'll have to find the fight and check

John Mccarthy is a great referee, Herb Dean is alright. Steve Mazagati and mario yamasaki are the ones that need to go.

Knees are only illegal against a downed opponent, yes?
Couture wasn't on his knee he was on his hands and feet. All he said was watch the knees

I can agree with that. Good way of putting it.

Randy did have all 4 points on the ground so it would have been illegal to knee him in the head (that rule needs to go, seriously) at that point. I've watched the fight several times. Big John did a good job telling Big Tim to watch the knees.

That being said I still think Herb Dean is an overall better ref. I'm not knocking John, he's really good too.

Big John is awesome but the 'best in the business' is easy that little Jap ref in Pride. I love him.
