How in the world is that his solution. Lets start with the obvious that a fighter does not have to retire from fighting in order to be in the commentating booth. The only times he couldnt commentate is when he is fighting himself. Which normally is only 3x a year.
Second the guy was just responding to the question the other poster presented to him. Which by the way had nothing to do with Canadian Psychos point. You can point out a commentators flaws without right away wanting him to get replaced.
On a different note.
The part that had me laughing was during the swick fight when Johnson had the choke in and Goldie goes "Now lets see if he can lock it up" and Rogan responds with "It is locked". Haha freaking goldie.

Hm.
Interesting.
And I could list a bunch of things that Rogan did wrong tonight/in general. However referring to every blow as a 'knockout blow', to who you think are Joes 'preffered fighters', is certainly not one of them. I can't even recall the term of speech 'knockout blow' leaving Rogans mouth. It's usually a 'BA-BLAM' or 'BA-BOOSH', specifially during the slo-mo replays post-fight.
|
1). Pretty sure that wasn't his solution at ALL. Sideways said it, fighters don't have to retire in order to commentate. The only person that mentioned retirement was you.
2). As much as Joe didn't say the words 'knockout blow' in relation to Vera, I'm pretty sure he also didn't say 'BA-BLAM' or 'BA-BOOSH' either.
I normally like Rogan, for the most part. But when he goes all biast on a fight I just tune him out as best I can.

It was more a 'group-all' term for 'He's rocked!', '_____ hurt him!', and every other saying Joe belts out every time one of his favourites lands a paw. Exaggeration to match Joe's exaggerations.

You can pretty much guarantee Rogan's commentary is going to suck if the fights are really good. He gets caught up in the moment and exaggerates everything. He's at his absolute worst whenever Edgar fights. Whenever Edgar lands a jab or a grazing hook you'll hear an obnoxious "HE HURT HIM!!!!11!1!" Or if he gets punched twice in a row but dodges the third, you'll hear about amazing his footwork/head movement is.
But for the most part Rogan is great at what he does. Sure he gets giddy like a school girl sometimes but hardcore fans are bound to have moments like that. Granted someone in his position has to contain himself better thought. I still dread the day when he has to retire and we're stuck with Goldberg and f*cking Florian.
EDIT: Best part of his commentary tonight was when he said De Fries has no power and is proven wrong not even a second later. Pretty sure the same thing happened in the Roller/Tavares fight.

I noticed in matches where theres a heavy favourite, or even just a champion vs challenger, Joe will focus on what the weaker fighter has to do to win. If he starts to do it, Joe will get amped up. It's like we know the other guys is good. However, if the underdog performs like an underdog, Joe will talk about how much better the favoured fighter is and what he's doing that makes him so good.
It sort of happened in the first Rua vs Machida fight, where Machida was the champ who couldnt get hit. Joe focused on the fact that Rua COULD hit him and took the champions performance for granted.

I noticed that Joe was favoring Vera in that fight. I remember they showed a statistic in round 3 (?) that showed Shogun outstriking Vera more than two to one and still Joe was insisting that it was a close fight.

He annoyed me in the Varner fight, then that just carried on to the Shogun/Vera fight. He was more annoying than usual, for me.

I think Joe is favoring the fighters he is close too or that he thinks they should win. At UFC 148 he assumed that Gleison Tibau was going to beat Khabib Nurmagomedov so during the fight he was always telling the viewers that Gleison was superior because he is experienced and a veteran to Khabib even though he was doing NOTHING. Since when being a veteran makes you win a fight?
Then the decision came and Rogan make a fool of himself at the post fight interview by telling the judges that they were wrong with their decisions. He never gave the props to Khabib who won the fight.

I dont understand how you guys dont get it. Rogan is a fight fan like the rest of us. He EXPECTED Shogun to roll Vera, like the rest of us. When he didn't, Rogan was surprised. He emphasized the shots Vera landed because they were unexpected, opposed to when Shogun landed - that was expected to happen and was thus less surprising.
Like in Shogun vs. Machida I, Machida was expected to blitz Shogun. So when Shogun landed, Rogan was surprised and emphasized it more. Then, again, everyone said he was bias towards Shogun (now he's bias against him? No).
In Shogun vs. Machida II the commentary was more technical because neither fighters were underdogs.

Na bud. Joe is an exemplary human and you are a detractor.
Off with your head.
