Joe Rogan is officially more annoying than Goldberg...

I tend to like Rogan, to the point where I can normally tune out his insane bias towards certain fighters. That said, he took it to another level tonight. Vera cannot hang with elite fighters. And not once did he rock Shogun. Rua is literally stumbling over himself due to lack of cardio, still manages to walk through Vera's best, but here's Joe calling it as though Rudy is winning the high school football game. I've never wanted to clock someone so badly, lol.

It's a shame. I enjoy fan reaction, as it can truly add to the fight. But I found myself wanting to mute the damn event.

I've never been bothered by their commentary before but they ******* sucked tonight.

Goldie with his he "choked out Tim Boestch with a Kimura" and saying Phan beat Mike Brown when he lost to him, and Rogan on Vera was just something else. He did this with Bisping in the Chael fight saying how Chael needed to finish Bisping when Chael actually out-struck him in total strikes and out grappled him for all three rounds.

But everytime Vera did something it was "OH BIG BODY SHOT AND LEG KICK BY VERA" or "BIG ELBOWS BY VERA!" or "This is a win in itself for Vera" which I guess it was but still it seemed like every time Vera hit Shogun he was gonna cream himself and then when Shogun did something he went back to normal mode.

I always that about Joe Rogan

I agree, he has that kind of voice that just lingers in your head hours after the fight is over ugh

Who cares if he says a few things that you don't agree with. To call him more annoying than Goldberg is just stupid. He's still the best commentator in the sport.

I care. Hence why I made the thread, genius.

DW's post fight comment made me think that Rogan was "encouraged" to overhype the fights as they were taking place. Apparently he told the fighters the only chance they have of being seen tonight over the olympics is if they catch the channel surfers before they can move on.

Just a theory though.

I think they probably upsell people in cases like this so that Joe Blow the UFC noob doesn't realize he's actually watching a mismatch that should have never been. I think it's pretty clear that the UFC wanted Shogun and Lyoto to win tonight so they could have someone well known to push for the next title shot. Yeah Bader and Vera are pretty popular amongst us guys but Shogun and Machida are both former champs and neither Bader nor Vera have been extremely impressive lately. What I think should have happened is that the main event should have been Lyoto vs Mauricio 3 to determine the number 1 contender and been done with it. In my perfect world Hendo would win on Sept 1 setting up a ppv of Hendo v Machida with the co main being Shogun vs Jones. Then Hendo beats Machida, Shogun beats Jones setting up 2 rematches that everyone wants to see. Now this is not me making a wager, but a mere request to the MMA heavens.

It's a rhetorical question, genius.

A rhetorical question would imply you had a valid point to make in the process. Which you didn't. Goldberg may be a bit of an ignoramus at times, but he's at least neutral. Joe may as well call me an idiot if I'm not rooting for the fighter he is, and it can be a bit overwhelming at times. You don't tend to see such biased commentary in other sports, and for good reason.

If you don't care, steer clear of this thread. Simple concept, really ;)
