The way Jones took Machida down was as impressive a takedown as I've seen, Machida has great takedown defence and Jones nailed it perfectly, great explosiveness and perfect timing.

Jones was pissed off after the first round while in his corner, a determined Jones who wants to take down any LHW should have no problem. The question is whether Machida can catch him before Jones decides he really wants to take him down, I'm sure his camp will be all about going straight for the takedown and not bother with keeping Machida at bay with his reach.

To be honest I'm not that excited about seeing the rematch, although it's better than anyone else at LHW, other than Silva of course. Would love it if Machida moved to MW and Silva moved to LHW, even if it's for his last fight.

Machida at MW is exciting, especially if GSP moves up. Machida vs Chael would also be exciting, I think he would handle Chael easier than Silva actually.

He is a legit prospect with wins over Lil Nog and Rampage. His only losses are to current/former champions. What Machida did to Bader was just something else. It was so obvious as the fight went on that Bader was getting more and more frustrated and couldn't figure out what in the hell to do with Machida. Lyoto is clearly on another level man. He made Darth Bader look like an absolute chump.

Lyoto's first round against Jones was pretty impressive. If he can avoid Jones' takedown, keep the distance and use his superb movement and timing he has a chance.

I am once again on board the Lyoto wagon

The problem is just like there is no comparison for Lyoto in other fighters, there is no comparison for JBJ. JBJ won't rush in like Bader, he doesn't have to, in fact it is the exact opposite.

This fight showed us that Machida is a wonderful fighter with great counter striking and precision. Everything we already knew tbh. What this fight wasn't however, was indication that the rematch between JBJ would go any differently. Jones still has some unusual takedowns you just can't train for, still has his reach and there is no way in hell Jones is going to rush in like Bader did. He'd fight on the outside and make Machida work more, taking him out of his comfort zone.
