This one is easy:

Cerrone: Fringe top 10 MMA LW

Guillard: Fringe top 25 MMA LW

Cerrone by sub in round one unless he fights like an clown.

vBookie Record: 16-9

Guillard has good striking and not so good defense. Funny how that goes. Either he knocks Cowboy out or gets rocked and finished.

I want so bad to be a Melvin fan, but he is just so one sided a fighter I can't keep waiting for him to even out his abilities. I mean, really, if his coaches even let him throw one punch or kick during a training camp, they are doing him a disservice. He should spend 99% of every camp on the ground, on his back or with someone on his back. If not, he is wasting his time.

I totally agree with this and i'm a big melvin fan. I heard a recent interview where he said he's been rolling with a lot of bjj black belts at blackzillians. would be great if it's true

fighters I like
145 Jose Aldo
155 Melvin Guillard
170 Carlos Condit
185 Anderson Silva
205 Jon Jones/Machida
265 Alistair Overeem/Frank Mir

Of course Melvin can always land that big right of his, but other than that I don't see him having the tools to beat Cerrone. Donald does almost everything better than Melvin, I think a lot of people forget his fights before Diaz and think of him as worse than what he is.

Also, these guys used to train together, so they know what works and what doesn't ;-)

Everyone rolls with black belts, not everyone has a natural ability or understanding for Jiu Jitsu.

They are both kind of train wrecks mentally. Cowboy is far more talented and I expect him to drop Guillard and either TKO or Sub him.

Guillard is just one of those guys you wish would get some sense in his head. He joined Jackson's and went on a 5? Fight win streak. Left and went to blackzilllians... 2 fight losing streak. Pretty obvious he was better coached at Jacksons and as a result was more mentally strong.

Fringe??? come on now.

Top 10 in NO order. (UFC only)

Maynard
edgar
bendo
diaz
miller
guida
pettis
cerrone
lauzon
guillard

Point : To say anything like guillard is a top 25 lw.. HUGE joke. With the exception of about 4 of those guys, Anyone of the other 6 could beat each other on any given night.

We have a solid 2 top 10 LW's going at it... If cerrone wins we will probably see him in a contenders fight and if guillard wins he will need another solid win to get a contender fight.

It's a great sylistic matchup and a great matchup for the rankings.

Dominick Cruz | Jose Aldo | Donald Cerrone | Vitor Belfort | Fedor | Daniel Cormier

Melvin is paying so well I had to bet on him. I think Cerrone will win though. The difference in ability between these fighters is a lot smaller than the difference in odds.

LW is a beastly division but Melvin is definitely top 20.. Outside of the UFC there is Pat Healy, Alvarez, Melendez, Chandler and Rick Hawn still to contend with. Not to mention guys like Paul Sass, Evan Dunham, Nurmagomedov, TJ Grant and Bocek. That makes 21.

Melvin is grapple retarded and an emotional wreck. That means against any competent grappler he's likely to find a way to lose.

Cerrone via RNC in the 2nd.
