Thank the fighters. Dana has little control over how good the fights turn out.

It worked out perfect. I think part is down to Dana and his pre fight words. But mainly its the first time that a fox card had really exciting fights on it. Lauzon/Varner was surefire awesomeness. Shogun loves his wars, Machida is always an intriguing watch and Swick and damarques always finish or get finished!
This should be the blueprint for FOX cards in future. A headline fight with something at stake. And barn burners below it.

When a fighter knows that he will be catapulted to the #1 contender if he violently finishes he will go for it if he's hungry enough.
Dana created that exact scenerio.
I give all the credit to the athletes for putting on those amazing performances..... and I give Dana the credit that he deserves for lighting a fire under their asses.

Personally I thought the third FOX card with Diaz/Miller was pretty good too.

Lauzon, Varner, Swick, Johnson and Shogun are all fighters not known for going to decision. That is what FOX cards need. Decisions often are better but the casuals tune in to see Submissions and KOs - that's whats gonna get repeat viewers.

I don't think the fights would have gone down any differently had he put that out there or not. Machida would've still KO'd bader and Shogun would've still gone to war with Vera.

IDK about the Vera statement. Brandon Vera hasn't banged like that in a long, long time.
This is just my opinion though... I'm thinking even Bader was trying to make something spectacular happen to get that shot and he got sloppy and Machida capitolized.

The scenerio he put the Main Event and Co Main Event last night in in regards to performances seemed spread throughout every fighter on that card. And it was a great night of fights IMO.
Dana can't change the way judges screw calls up, and he hangs his head at snoozefests so he's changing the way fighters perform.
Excellent show and great line up for a free card.

...True. High quality line-up that produced results and then some. Only disapointment was The Phil Davis fight. The nation got a taste of a solid night of PPV type fights. Bader running into a right bullet, to Vera's heart and Shogun's wicked finishing shots, What a card, what a result...

Title implications and $$$ motivates them. Some cards are going to be good, others mediocre, and a few stellar. I watch all of em nonetheless.
Gotta give credit to the hardest working man in the biz!
