Overeem could fight as long as NSAC gave him the license which I am sure they would.

The commission instead moved straight to the consideration of Overeem's license application and elected to suspend the heavyweight fighter for nine months, retroactive to the date of his failed test, March 27.

That means Overeem's suspension will expire in late December. If UFC tradition holds, a year-end pay-per-view card is possible for Las Vegas on Dec. 29, and Overeem would be eligible to apply for a license to fight on it.

Unless Cain beats JDS, and then who knows when his next shot at Overeem comes along?

Anyway, lol at Cain saying he earned a shot. He got stopped brutally and finished a newcomer coming off a loss. He's lucky the division is as thin as it is.

Take a seat Cain. You have nothing to offer JDS stylistically. Infact he killed you when he had a major leg injury, him at 100% would be an even worse beating.

Id love Cain vs. Werdum. IMO Werdum is the #2-3 guy in the world.

Exactly what I was going to reply with

64 second loss followed by beating up a giant headed gate keeper doesn't spell title shot. Not that the majority of title shots are given to deserving number one contenders anyways. I'd rather see JDS face someone prior to a December showdown with Overeem, but Cain? meh.

Yeah, i agree that Cain is probably one of the few who could potentially pose a threat to JDS, BUT he won't make a solid case.

Right now Werdum is ahead of him in my books but the Cain fight is money so they'd go with this.

JDS is not the type to choose who he fights, Reem would just be more appealing to him right now... which of course means nothing.

Unfortunate thing for Cain is that it's also the more appealing fight for Dana White right now, he's already creating banter between JDS and Reem.

Cain is just venting. If Dana did promise him a shot and then go quiet about it, then let the man get it off his chest. I'm sure any of us would have some angry and totally unreasonable things to say in the same situation.

Going to reiterate what I said earlier. This is the best case scenario for Cain. He fights Werdum picks up another pay cheque and he fights the winner.

JDS fights Overeem which is what the fans want and WAS the original fight that was supposed to happen in the first place.

Cain will get his shot regardless. Here's the flipside. IF he gets his shot and he loses. He's going to be in purgatory stuck as second best for a long time.

I would like to add the Cain that I saw against Big Foot means business. I believe he may edge out a win against JDS. The top three are so far ahead of any of the HWs in the division that it's scary actually. Name me one fighter who can beat JDS or Cain. A few can beat Overeem "if" they can somehow get em to the ground. The BIG THREE have the division on lock down and they all have scores to settle amongst each other.

I dont see how people are saying Cain stands no chance after their first fight, but want Werdum to go next who JDS already walked through as well.

I'd want Overeem, but I'd rather Werdum than Cain even though Cain is better. Cain had ZERO successful title defenses and lost in ONE MINUTE to Dos Santos. Then he beats a middle tier fighter. How does that warrant a rematch???

He shouldn't let Dana White's impulse choice of words actually carry weight.
