GSP only fought Hughes because Serra was injured and it was turned into an interim title fight. If Serra didn't injure himself, then he would never have fought another contenders fight, it would have been straight for the title.

If JDS was to get injured right now, then Cain would have to fight another contender for the spot like GSP did. Same scenario.

Also, big foot I believe is ranked as a top 10 HW. Cain didn't just beat him, he murdered him.

The UFC however doesn't operate like that, it labels itself as a sports league but it doesn't run like one, as bad as this sounds if Cain didn't have Mexican heritage I kinda doubt he'd be in the situation he's in right now where he's one fight away from a title shot.
I don't think his Mexican heritage has any thing to do with it. Dana was mega pissed when Cain destroyed Brock Lesnar, just look at the look on his face when he was wrapping the belt around Cains waist.

It's all to do with how thin the UFC HW division really is (especially after losing out on Overeem for a year).

Yeah he was pissed when he beat Brock, but he also got a guy that could open the Mexican fanbase which is still a big audience for Boxing, the Mexican fanbase is huge for the UFC and Cain was supposed to be the guy to open the door for them.

Then he got knocked out in 64 seconds, and I don't think he can beat Junior personally.

JDS fought everyone and anyone en route to a title opportunity, which is more than I can say for Cain. If he feels this strongly about fighting Overeem, then let the champion have the fight that he wants. They've done it for Anderson. They've done it for GSP. JDS has earned the right to fight Overeem, and Cain should consider himself lucky that he doesn't have to begin his weight cut to 205 until 2013.

Which is probably the reason they promised him a second title shot iin the first place. Dana even said what Cain did wrong, like he was supposed to win. Like he was one of his boys. That was low.

Cain vs Werdum, while JDS can deal with Alistair, because this is rhe fight that should have taken place in the first time...

Overeem is the number one contender JDS already got through Cain with one punch.

On the one hand I feel like many others here that Cain hasn't earned his rematch. At the same time overeem doesn't deserve a shot either for being a blatant unrepentant cheat. And JDS has already destroyed all other contenders, so really whoever they give the shot now is equally good or bad in my eyes.
