This statement should resonate. I'm not overly enthused to see a rematch just yet. Only reason that happened was because of the drug test. The UFC knows what to do. Wait for NYE and make this a HW blockbuster just like Mir vs Brock...now that there's tension in the air.
Tension + smack talking = PPVS $$$

"Junior, give me and the fans and the UFC what they want. You've already fought Cain. That would just be another win. But a win over me would give you the number-one spot. Without a win over me, they'll always question your championship. So bring it to the table, my friend."

Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

This fight is going to be SO anticlimactic when it happens. Reem and his zero head movement, glass chin and lack of heart won't make it past the four minute mark.

He couldn't handle Werdum's aggression ffs.

Like both guys but Overeem's career at Heavyweight isn't legit, he's like the Barry Bonds of MMA. Sure he's the all time home runs leader, but do people really look at it the same as if a guy like Pujols got it?

No and that's the way I see this, Junior is the true champion and the number one guy in the world even if Overeem beats him, I won't look at him the same way I looked at Junior, Cain, Brock or any of the other Champs.

You're acting like Werdum is some slouch on the feet. He is not. He's gotten some serious muay thai skills lately.

I agree. Werdum is #2-3 for me at HW, him and Cormier need to fight and we'll see the #2 HW in the world.

But fact is, if you can't stand with Werdum, you're not standing with JDS.

All hype. I hope people remember that JDS hasn't called Reem a punk or said anything about him publicly, Dana said he did.

He's most definatly #1.
In my head.

In the real world JDS is the #1 HW in the world. No if ands or buts. He's defeated the whos who of relevant HWs. And he's done it damn impressivley

Its so obvious to me that Overeem is using words to get a title match sooner rather than remaining quiet and waiting till the winner of Cain/JDS. If a fighter falls for trash talk, then by all means, use whatever tools to get the fight.

For the most part, I take trash talk from any fighter with a grain of salt.

I'm not sure it's even that, he may be toeing the company line.

Who would the UFC rather see in that cage across from JDS, Reem or Cain? It's not like Overeem has to convince them, or that JDS has any actual say on the matter.

It's just fight promotion, IMO.
