Kind of surprised Nike decided to sponsor him so soon after the DUI. Thought they would distance themselves a bit.

Good for him. If he wasn't rich before he is now.

Even though I'm not a fan of Jon Jones I"m happy for him since for everything he's done in his short career he deserves it, and it also helps the sport.

What kind of pay raise do you expect thisll make? I mean does NIKE money double your salary? Or maybe more reasonably add another 25%? I just dont know how atheletes get paid by sponsors. If I had to guess tho and my life depended on it, Id say that this will probably add about 2.5 million more to his value per year after commercials and signature series gear. Could Jon Jones be the next Jordan? So if he fights 4 times per year making probably 250,000 per fight (before ppv buys and sponsors), so yeah hes doing pretty good haha.

Not a chance, he may be the MMA GOAT but he'll never impact the world of sports like Jordan has/does.

Its kind of sad that racism is thriving live and well.Any other sport with a "diverse" fanbase and jones would be the biggest box office ticket easily. But not with mma where most of the fans are of the same hue :smh:

Of course not. That's because Jordan could always pass the ball or if he missed a couple baskets it is what it is...

MMA fans are far more unforgiving. If Jones loses a fight or two the community shall forget...and there goes his prestige.

Oh my God it has NOTHING to do with racism, Jesus Christ, it has everything to do with the fact that GSP has an entire country behind him and seems far more genuine than Jones who everyone thinks is a fake and a phony.

For me, it doesn't matter if he loses a fight or two, I hold basketball in higher regard than fighting and I'm sure many others feel the same way. Jones could go down as the MMA GOAT and never lose a fight and still never have the impact Jordan has had. I have so much Jordan shit it's ridiculous, I'll probably get a Jones t-shirt, and maybe some shoes if they look cool but it'll most likely never even come close to the amount of Jordan brand things I own.

I'm glad he is getting himself and the sport that kind of mainstream recognition. They took long enough to give a deal like that to a UFC champ. Now maybe it can happen for others too.

I can't believe the ignorance of some people, sometimes you just have to suffer to realize how stupid and deadly drunk driving is.

AS for Jones being selected I think it's a terrible move based purely on the drunk driving. If it weren't for that, he'd be the perfect candidate. Only we hardcore fans really care about his personal life and how real or fake he is. The general Nike population will just see an amazing athlete.

I can see Nike pushing him beyond GSP for recognition if he manages to stay at the top for many years to come. Nike is just so damn big.

All that being said, GSP really laid the groundwork for major sponsors so it's great to see big companies getting more involved.

I don't think you can question the deal, from a business pov this a great deal for both parties. He is the future and face of MMA.

Question though why is this big news when Anderson Silva is sponsor by Nike also?
