Lombard's reason
At last month’s UFC 149 fight card, Hector Lombard made his long awaited UFC debut. Everyone was expecting the former Bellator champion, who was undefeated since 2006 to dominate his opponent, Tim Boetsch. Unfortunately, he did not. Lombard looked to have a horrible game-plan in his split decision loss to Boetsch.
On Wednesday afternoon the middleweight fighter released a statement via his official facebook page.
I want to let all my fans know. I fought mu last fight injured. i wasnt 100% sure but i when to the doctors… I have a fracture sternum with a torn cartilage, i got this injure in training for my fight with Tim Boetsch. I have to be out of training for 6weeks i should never have fought like that, but i didnt want to let my fans and the UFC down, love you all.
Many fans have made comments and the reaction has been mixed. There are many that believe he is telling the truth and others who feel it is completely false.

I don't know why anyone would risk all that hype, their ufc debut, and that 20 fight win streak on an injury.
Stupid move if this is true.

Dont chose to fight and then throw out excuses out there if you lose. If you know you are injured but continue to go through with the fight then keep it to yourself. If you plan to give excuses after the fight about why you lost then you shouldnt even step in to the octagon.
My opinion.

Both of us have said this before, and I wanted him to win, but if you lose SHUT YOUR F#$%&@G MOUTH!
DOn't sign a contact, step into the damn ring, lose, and then turn around and cry about some sob story I really don't want to hear.
Shit, one reason I freaking LOVE Jake Shields. Tons of people hate the dude, but reporters had to suck it out of him that losing his father just before the jake ellenberger fight might have had a negative affect. A true fighter and man with self respect wouldn't be making these excuses Lombard is making.
I still like Lombard, but unfortunately he lost a few points in my eyes.

You know whats funny.
I made a post in the "Post fight conference" thread that said "Did he give an injury excuse about why he lost yet??? If not im sure its coming soon enough."
And here it is...
Took longer then i thought.
Only thing missing was
"Im not making any excuses BUT"
