Also why are they having Ronda do naked photo shoots? What's the point in falling straight into the whole sex appeal thing when that isn't going to be an option in most cases?

Heck let's just have Carano and Rousey do a sex film and women's MMA will be on the map

Because it's the entertainment industry and when it comes to female entertainers they are largely dependent on their sex appeal.

No one cares about an ugly woman beating people up a la Cyborg.

And what happens when people lose interest in Rousey or she runs out of mediocre female fighters to crush?

You can't build a women's sport up based on sex appeal and we're probably 15 years away from womens MMA reaching the same level as mens and that's assuming widespread involvement which is massively unlikely.

Haha, when lately that (supposedly) girl said that Ortiz would be ugly and this and that fighter would be sexy, everybody here got mad how she could judge those male fighters on their looks as it's a combat sport and not about looks, but as soon as someone mentions Carano or Rousey, starts to get a watery mouth and talks are mostly about their sexyness

Correction you can't build a women's sport. The only ones that get any coverage, tennis and beach volleyball are because of sex appeal.

UFC on fox has been dismal save one card and considering that I've seen a lot of woman's bouts that are of higher quality and more entertaining than what we'll get from all but the main events on most fox cards, I'd love to see them create a woman's division and throw some bouts on fox shows.

You realize the naked photo shoot was part of an SI shoot that featured both male and female athletes, right?

If only there was some way to take a group of women and put them in a house and have them fight every week.

You might even put some lesbians in the house to see if they end up engaging in some sort of sexual relationship only to have to fight at the end.

But as we all know their are no lesbians in MMA, a show like that would never work, and nobody would watch women acting a fool and fighting with each other.

I think you're confusing hot lesbians that exist only in porn and fantasies with the butch lesbians that populate mma and the real world. The kind that don't really sell.

Not that either affects my personal opinion of women's mma, just pointing out the holes in the women's TUF = $$$ scenario.

I never said they had to be hot. Also keep in mind weight classes keep the really unattractive girls out of MMA. You can get some real drama out of love triangles or stalker type relationships.
