Mirko Cro Cop seeks return to MMA, says 'Martial arts is my life'

Initially like everyone and I mean everyone...I thought he should have retired awhile back after the Pat Barry fight. But after thinking about it he never got to show the new fans his vaunted LHK. So yes I think he needs to land it at least once and then he can retire.

I really wonder why he never bothered cutting down to 205. He can probably beat Struve, but a bout with Hunt would be very intriguing and rematches vs Kongo + Big Nog. He did the best against JDS next to Roy if you think about it. He could still bang "if" his mind is there.

Former Pride and UFC Heavyweight Mirko Filopvic had seemingly retired from MMA competition to step back into the K-1 arena, where he has since been the winner of two bouts. Bowing down after a loss to Roy Nelson, news comes from USAToday.com that he may be seeking a return to the cage, stating that his words may have been misunderstood:

"Concerning my retirement from the UFC, I said it was my last fight for the UFC and last fight on the present contract, but I did not say, 'I won't keep fighting. I never said that. I think the best thing to say is that I was born to fight."

Filopovic is well known for his relentless brand of striking, knocking out opponents left and right with his vaunted headkicks in his prime. He may be in the twilight of his career, but he could still inject some excitement into any bout he participated in. Apparently, this is exactly his goal, as he continued:

"If you ask me, when I look deep into my soul, of course I would like to fight MMA again. People don't get it. Martial arts is my life."

Cro Cop shows a deep-seeded dedication to MMA and martial arts as a whole. He stated that he has been training everyday, but does this give him enough to compete with top-level fighters of today? His UFC tenure left much to be desired after the initial hype. As fans, would you like to see Cro Cop return to the Octagon or some other MMA arena?

I don't want to see anymore Cro-Cop in the UFC, he can't compete with that tier anymore, however if he joined another org, well even the UFC, I'd still support him and wish him the best - but no, I hope he stays out of MMA.

He can still be involved without getting in a cage himself. So hard for these guys to let go.

As long as it's outside the UFC away from the seriously dangerous fighters I'd be fine with him leaving with a couple decent wins. Let him fight Severn, Sylvia, Kimbo, Rizzo, Arlovski and Shamrock he likely wants to end his career with 30 wins.

As a long time CroCop fan, I never want to see him fight again.

Didn't anyone else but me see the kickboxing bout he had against Sefo a month back or so? I'm telling you, without the fear of a takedown, Crocop can still swing pretty damn good.

He would get wrecked by any of the top guys and the better young kickboxers though. There aren't that many feature fights for him in kickboxing right now where he would stand a legitimate chance.

I wouldn't call that fight great either it was nonstop holding.

Cro Cop...please...don't do it.
He's almost 40 years old man. He never looked spectacular in the octagon. His better days are far behind him.

These guys like Cro Cop who still have a passion for the sport should really go into coaching. Cro Cop just can't do it anymore and he doesn't need to risk any long time damage, if he doesn't already have it.
