Is it one of those things where he voluntarily goes on vacations and likes to have extended time off between fights to relax his body since he is getting older?

Or is it one of those, he is starting to get hurt after every fight as his body is older and breaking down and needs some time to heal up and rehab?

Im thinking its more of the first one.

when do people just accept that Anderson Silva is an amazing killing machine? it seems every number one contender is the one to debunk him and that he's scared of that man. i can understand thinking Weidman will give a competitive fight against Silva, but what an insane statement it would be to imply Silva was scared of him.

what an insane statement it was that he was afraid of Sonnen as well but then he beat Sonnen and I thought these ridiculous comments would cease to exist but they wont.

Wow, people really seem to have short memories on here. Silva is 'scared'? They should force Anderson to fight? Are you serious?

Silva has earned the right to take some time off from the sport and make some dough (which I presume he will do) outside of it. He is a mega star (especially in Brazil) and can do a bunch of things now and make stacks without someone trying to punch his face in.

I am sure he made a killing for the Chael rematch. He won't make anything close to that with a Weidman. 'Just put another title on the same card' someone said...ridiculous. Why would Anderson need to share ppv earnings?

There are plenty of titles now, they can be defended while Silva gets someone who puts some convincing wins together to build a bankable PPV. If Weidman is that good, he will kill a few more people, and then fight for the title and be a more marketable star.

I don't think Anderson is "scared" either. But his fans are throwing out every excuse they can as to why Weidman doesn't deserve it.

But this makes no sense to me, this is politics and nothing more, if GSP loses, he's waited out for nothing. Literally, he's just wasted months off his career that, really doesn't have that much time left.

I just don't see what it hurts having him and Weidman fight in December, I hate what politics has done to Boxing and I don't want MMA to go the same way and this is a clear of instance of politics. I've got no problem with Anderson wanting a super fight but the guy he wants to fight isn't fighting next weekend or next month for that matter.

Some time off? He's just come back after being out for a year. When your the champ you fight who ever is infront of you, Weidman is ready now.

Nobody is arguing Silva isn't all time great. I love watching Silva fight but no fighter should get to dictate WHO he fights. Silva made every excuse not to fight Sonnen & now Weidman. If your the champ, the GOAT then your obligated to fight the number 1 contender. Silva has become a prima Donna making comments " I would like to fight my clone next" & picking who he fights. Like my friend Hendo said: I bet Anderson would suddenly be ready to fight Michael bisping so why not a wrestler?

I don't think he is scared either (of anyone), however the clock is ticking, he isn't getting any younger. I've always thought that true champs desire the competition,not some time on the couch. I think he should fight whoever is next in line in a reasonable amount of time. Either way he is a legend.

Once again exactly! The reason i'm not a Mayweather fan. Real champions will step to the plate & duck nobody.
