People that are saying Anderson is scared clearly doesn't get the big picture. The man is 37, has been fighting for a living for well over 15 years. He has seen and fought the best, why would he be scared of a up and comer?

Really man some of you people and your delusional thoughts. People tend to forget these guys are human also. The dude has four kids who are all under 18 i think. Do you really think he is taking time off because he is scared of a fight? I'm pretty sure he wants to spend time with that family that he has likely has neglected for 15 years, trying to be where is at today.

Chris Wielman is chasing a dream, Silva has done it all, money is no longer an issue. Look at the list of fighters who have retired just to spend time with their family:

-Fedor
-Marcus Jones
-BJ now he is back, but go watch the interview after the Diaz fight
-Chris Lytle

Simple fact is Dana White calls the shot, when Silva returns Dana picks his next fight. Bottom line is there is nothing for the man to do in the sport he has done it all but lose. If you were Anderson Silva and at your peak, wouldn't spending time with the family be more important at this point?

I imagine he wants a break but I also think he wants to see how GSP does against Condit. The UFC wants to give him Weidman but it looks like Silva is completely against it. If GSP wins, he'll push for that instead.

I honestly never thought GSP vs Silva would happen but it looks like it's finally coming together.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

And what do those guys all have in common?

They don't have the obligation of UFC Champion, he just had 11 months off before the Chael fight, a December fight with Weidman is more than reasonable. If he doesn't wanna live up to his commitments and do his job then he needs to turn the belt in, stop putting Weidman, Boestch, and Belchers lives on hold and let the guys who want to compete do their thing.

If he wants to fight GSP in Dallas and then retire there's no point of him even keeping the belt.

Mayweather would destroy Pac. No PAC Man wouldn't take the tests within the weeks leading upto the fight. Then there was a big money issue of both fighters not agreeing on a purse. Your acting like steroids are not a big deal, what guys are you saying are juicing then?.

Diaz..Edgar.. Cormier.. Cain.. Mir.. Overeem.. Jon Jones

If that obligation really matter, then Dana White should strip him of the belt or create a second belt. Reality is the man is Anderson Silva, there is a list of fighters waiting for their shot, but they will only get it by default. The second best guy in the division is Sonnen, then Belfort, who both lost to the champ. Let CW fight one of them.

At what point do you stop believing the hype that a MW will beat Silva? Everybody the man has defeated was dubbed the guy. It's now 2012, CW has been impressive, but really if you are the champ would you take him seriously?

I'm not saying he's scared. No fighter is scared to fight anyone. There job is fighting but it don't mean they don't get nervous to fight a certain style. Sonnen set the blueprint & he doesn't seem invincible to the young guys. What happened when fedor lost? Everyone was saying he never fought the best. If Anderson lost it would be he never was great at fighting wrestlers. He doesn't want to tarnish his legacy. Hell he greased, held sonnens shorts did every dirty tactic & I loved it! But it also told me he was nervous as anyone to be taken down.

well thought out opinion. Couldn't had said that any better.

I fight for 2 well known leagues in the Midwest & I won't say the names because I would still like to compete but they have several ufc stars I have talked with & they all say steroids are everywhere. I don't know what my opinion is on juice but I believe its in every sport.

The blue print to beat Anderson Silva has been out since 2007, however in the time he has gotten significantly better. If he cared about his legacy I doubt he would be calling for GSP. Who is one of the best wrestlers in MMA. I have seen GSP taken down Rashad Evans, can you honestly tell me CW is more dangerous than GSP? For a fighter that is avoiding tarnishing his legacy its a really dumb idea to be picking a fight with a guy regarded as a top 4 fight in the industry.

At the end of the day CW is an up and comer, really has done nothing. SIlva has stated many times he wants big fights or named opponent. Hell Nick Diaz vs Anderson Silva will sell more PPVs than Silva vs CW. The funny thing is Dana said Silva was not going to be fighting until next year even before CW won against Munoz. At 37, the man is looking to make the most $$$$.

You are making some very good points. While I, like many others, want to see Silva vs. GSP, I have a feeling that the matchup will probably be a huge letdown. My feeling is that GSP will get destroyed. I pray that doesn't happen though.

This is getting really absurd. He's the best in the world but he's almost padding his legacy by just adding days to his title reign. I really don't have much respect for Silva outside of the cage. If anything, I could understand someone like Bones requesting time off since this will be his 6th fight (5 title fights) in a year and a half.
