UFC's Lightweights?

Overall, the UFC's lightweight division is clearly the deepest, but do you think that the UFC's top lightweight fighters might have been a tad over rated? In 2010, when the UFC and WEC were split, you would have been blasted on these forums (by most) if you said that Ben Henderson, Donald Cerrone, and Anthony Pettis, in about two years, would all be ranked higher than Frankie Edgar, BJ Penn, and Grey Maynard. Now the WEC fighters are a combined 13-2 in the UFC, hold the belt, and the other two are fighting for the #1 contender spot after Nate gets his shot. What if Bellator's and Strikeforce's top fighters like, Alvarez, Chandler, Melendez, Aoki, all came over to the UFC? Do you think they would knock the UFC based fighters down the ladder even more? Maybe even take over the division just like the WEC fighters have? Hopefully one day we will be able to find out for real...but in the mean time...Thoughts...opinions?

A lot of people still consider Frankie to be the rightful champ and Gray Maynard is in no way out of the mix. Nate is a different fighter these days so I don't think his past is relevent.

I'm not sure how the Bellator and Strikeforce guys would do, but they should definently be over. Strikeforce def. Why is it still around? I'm sure theres a promotion somewhere that would be happy to let Rousey fight, and the guys could all come over to UFC where the big time happens. The left overs who don't make the cut can go to Bellator to develop their skills. Bellator is really the developmental now. They have some good talent but they wouldnt really be big in the UFC just yet.

I'm probably the best at keeping threads on topic of all time.
