UFC Quick Quote: Dan Henderson would 'love' for Jon Jones to try and knock him out in

["My right hand] must be a pretty good trick. It's kept me in the sport this long and people keep wanting to see it. It's kept me around for a long time. But it's more about positioning. TKO me? I'd love for him to try. That means he's coming after me and I won't have to chase him.... One of the biggest assets I have is my experience, my timing, my striking, my takedowns and the ability to mix it up.... I love being the underdog. I like being a little challenged. I need to step up and prove people wrong. It adds to my fire and motivates me.... I feel right at home when I'm wrestling. He's taller and longer and gives problems in the clinch. But it'll give me the opportunity to put him on his back."

-- In 37 professional mixed martial arts (MMA) matches, in a legendary career that dates back to 1997, UFC 151's Dan Henderson has never been stopped via strikes. He's got just three submission and five decision defeats on his ledger, which means that the window of opportunity to change the 41-year-old's stat line is closing quick. His trademark square jaw has been battle-tested and, to date, has passed with flying colors. However, it has yet to absorb the dynamic strikes of UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, a 25-year-old phenom who has ripped through a Murderer's Row of former champions to claim his rightful spot atop the 205-pound heap. In fact, Jones' name has already entered into "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT) conversations after an unprecedented 18-month stretch that saw him win the belt and then successfully defend four times against the best the division has to offer. The only thing missing, for now, at least, appears to be a win over Henderson -- the only viable contender not etched into his whoop ass stick (sorry Lyoto Machida, you had your chance). And a sensational finish of "Hendo" would not only appear to be par for the course, but add even more mystique to his own growing legend. Henderson's recent comments on "UFC Tonight" suggest that he welcomes Jones' chin checks on Labor Day weekend, but there's no telling whether or not "Bones" -- a student od the sport who always walks into the Octagon prepared -- is willing to take the bait.
I would love to see hendo win, here's hoping.

Don't worry Hendo, you're going DOWN, that's 100% sure.

Do not be surprised to see Jones strike with Hendo for a couple rounds before even considering a takedown, he's trying to prove a point on the feet more with every fight.

To be successful he'll have to pretty much repeat his strategy for Rampage, as soon as you enter Hendo's range that right hand will fire. Nowadays, Hendo's hands are proving more dangerous than Jackson's and Jones needs to fear them like he did Jackson's.

So logic says Hendo will just get kicked until he's tired enough to own on the ground, but young Jon has been straying from what got him where he is and been knocked back a couple times in his past two fights.

Hes trying to prove a point?

I think he is going to go for a TD ASAP. Not because he cant stand with Hendo, but Hendos best chance at winning is an H-Bomb KO and Greg Jackson will install a gameplan that makes that the least likely thing to happen which is jones not standing with Hendo for long.

Greg Jackson installs the gameplan and his gameplans are built around winning, not proving points.

Fav Fighters:
BJ
GSP
Askren
JDS
Belcher
Shogun
Fedor
Hendo
Sonnen

Just something I've noticed in Jon's past three fights.

I'm giving him a realistic 20% chance which isn't that bad considering. I think he's going to initiate a clinch and dirty box JBJ. Just use all sorts of crafty veteran dirtiness to try to annoy and confuse JBJ. He's got a full two rounds to do it. This is it for Dan. I don't see him fighting any more unless he wins. He's had a phenomenal late career run. There's no other fighter his age who's had anything close.

I do believe this is an old lion who's going out to battle knowing it may be his final one.

Two things:

1) He did let us down against Jake Shields. I still believe without a back injury he roflstomps Shields into his grave.

2) I give him a better shot than I give anyone. His chin is made of legends, and he believes in it. That alone will probably allow him to actually get inside of Jones's reach and have a chance to land that big bomb.

This. Hendo will keep going forward til' he lands it and he isn't afraid to eat punches on his way in.

I can totally see Hendo taking this one. The man is a warrior who is not afraid to push the fight and eat some shots in the process.

we aint going to see Rashad dance around for 5 rounds

we aint going to see rampage stand there and get whupped.

Lyoto Machida pushed forward with courage and IMO (*and i believe most peoples*) Won the first round, and was doing well in the second until Jones just became too much for him.

Dan Henderson is the man to beat him

Chin, Wrestling, H-Bomb, Warrior = Dan Henderson your new Light Heavyweight Champion.
