Rampage training in Brazil for fight with Glover Teixeira

Quote:
Quinton ďRampageĒ Jackson arrived in Rio de Janeiro this Tuesday and went to Lapa for an orchestrated marketing action of Ultimate, along with other UFC Rio 3 stars, including Glover Teixeira, his opponent on October 13th.

The former Pride champion, on an interview with TATAME, revealed why he chose Recife as the place to hold his training camp for the event.

ďThereíre lots of different reasons. One of my teammates coaches Jiu-Jitsu in my team, Mario Sukata, he has a good camp set up there. And I said: Ďwhy not? Iím fighting in Brazil, why not train there?Ē.

Rampage is coming from two consecutive losses and does not seem to know a lot about Glover, whoís a newcomer in the UFC.

ďI havenít seen Gloverís fights but I heard heís really tough. I heard he got good stand-up and good Jiu-Jitsu. Iím looking forward to fight my opponents and itís a good fight. This is my very last fight in UFC of my contract, so Iím start seeing whatís out there, what other company wants me to fight for it. They offered me Glover and I never turned down one of the opponents the UFC has even given me. The only opponent I tried to turn down was Matt Hamill because I didnít want to fight a wrestler again, but Glover looks like a tough opponent and most the times he comes to fight and Iím hoping he stays that way. It looks like an exciting fight and I like fighting people who put on a great showĒ.

Not minding the Brazilian fans that will fill HSBC Arena, Rampage revealed he is motivated to fight in Brazil.

ďIím very excited about fighting in Brazil. I know UFC and MMA pretty much started in Brazil. I think the Brazilian fans understand the fight and they seem like very exciting fans. I wanna come and feel the energy. Iím fighting a Brazilian guy, but still itís a fight. I was hoping to fight somebody else if I ever fought in Brazil, but itís ok. Itís my job to fight. I donít care who it isĒ.

Wow, Rampage actually found some Brazillian yes-men trainers. I heard he is adapting nicely to his new grueling training schedule:
  • 5 mins - Light swim
  • 15 mins - Beat up a punching bag (no kicks)
  • 5 mins - Light jog
  • 2 hours - cool down by the beach.

This was his old training schedule:

  • 2 hours - cool down by the pool.

Rumors have been floating around he's been working with Rafael Corederio.

I don't know whose gonna win this one, the jury is still out on Glover but Rampage hasn't looked good in years.

Well he's in the home of BJJ, if there's ever a time and place to FINALLY learn some JiuJitsu then this is it Rampage. The stubborn S.O.B can't even learn to keep someone in half-guard.

Rampage reminds me of Brock Lesnar with his dismissive... I've never seen my opponent fight, I heard he has good cardio, I live in a cave with no communication with the outside world, spiel.

If watching a few of your opponents past fights to familiarize yourself with them is like pulling teeth without novocaine, maybe you shouldn't be fighting bro. Mind is not in the right place?
