Silva vs Jones is a much better fight IMO.
Watching GSP lie on top of Silva for 25 minutes doesnt fill me with a great amount of excitment.

Nope I agree. Never been fussed on the fight. When it first started getting spoken about I far preferred the idea of Silva vs Shogun. And even though Shogun isn't champ at 205 anymore, I still do.
Not for your reason though. I think Silva would destroy GSP inside 3 rounds, but, meh, doesn't interest me at all. I mean of course I'll be excited for it and watch it, but there are other theoretical fights which intrigue me more.

I don't think Silva/Shogun would be really competitive tbh. I think Silva would dominate.

Considering how many debates, polls and p4p rankings there are on hundreds of sites, I think a lot of people care about who the p4p king is.

The GSP vs. Silva fight was something that people wanted way before Silva vs. Jones anyways, and they're closer to each other in weight so it makes sense to me

He's quickly trying to turn it into Boxing though.
Chris Weidman has already confirmed on the UG that Anderson turned down a fight with him, which is why Belfort is fighting Belcher, the UFC told Weidman not to accept the Belfort fight because they were gonna make Silva/Weidman and Anderson flat out turned it down. The Champion basically refused to fight the top contender.
But because his fans are brainwashed they'll let it slide since he's "earned it" just because he's been the Champ for s while.

Nobody is brainwashed, the very notion that Weidman has earned a title shot is laughable. He has NINE fights in his career and his biggest win was over MARK FRICKIN MUNOZ who is an average fighter, not a top contender. Weidman is a primma donna for assuming he has earned the right to sit around and wait for Anderson when he should be going out trying to make another fight happen.
Anderson has little time left in his career, it makes sense for him to wait for a potential superfight rather than finish some scrub with 9 fights.

This is true, Shogun has become a plodding thai boxer who gases in 3 minutes. I don't even think he gassed in the Vera fight, he was so slow from the get go.
Anderson would straight murk him and Gustaf is going to light him up. Poor old Shogun, fingers crossed GSP doesn't come back like Shogun after surgery.
To the OP: Throughout his career, Anderson has fought between 168lbs and 205lbs. The fight will be at a catchweight, but even if it weren't it's simply Anderson dropping to a division that he used to fight in to show the current champ who the real king is.

Why are people ACTUALLY acting like Weidman is the beast and Anderson is bitching out by fighting GSP? Rush is a million times better than Weidman. Beating Mark Munoz means nothing what so ever.

You do realize 'MARK FRICKIN MUNOZ' was ranked number three when he beat him right? And he didn't just beat him, he demolished him, handily.
He also made Munoz, the same man Anderson and the rest of Blackhouse brought in to teach them how to wrestle look like he never stepped foot on a wrestling mat a day in his life.
Oh, and how did Anderson get his title shot again? Who'd he beat?
Oh yeah....Chris Leben, didn't he lose to Munoz btw? FYI, he's not getting his big GSP superfight because the Natural Born Killer is gonna take GSP's head off, so Anderson might as well sign up now, otherwise he's just wssting everyone's time.

So, because Weidman beat Leben, he deserves a title shot?

Fighting the only other fighter in the world as dominant and for as long as yourself .... is not bitching out.
7 lbs weight shmeight, it's the two best fighters in the world, and Silva will penalize his cardio for whatever extra weight he's steaming off 1 day before the fight.
