Soares sarcastically dismissed Weidman's credentials when asked if he would be a potential next challenger:
"I mean, because he had an impressive win over Mark Munoz and Maia? Sure."
When it came to a showdown with Nick Diaz, however, Soares was more receptive:
"Sure, we'll consider anyone the UFC puts in front of us, I don't have a choice. Nick Diaz is a good opponent possibly, I mean, he's a smaller guy, but he's a guy who comes out and fights every time, he's going to put on a good fight. I don't know what's going to happen, that's a question for Dana and [UFC matchmaker Joe] Silva."

Dude, I was a big Jones fan/defender but this is weird. I can't understand why he couldn't demand a special bonus to fight an undeserving Chael.

If it was an easier lighter opponent then definitely. Mayweather would probably just ask for a bigger paycheck lol. Which is a reasonable thing to do tbh.

Exactly.
Also, if Jones lost, he would get an immediate rematch (more money). It must be Greg Jackson influencing Jones to play it so safe that it's dumb (Guida game plan). The funny thing is, Machida is a WAY more dangerous fighter. Sonnen doesn't seem to have KO power but Machida does.

Yeah. Machida is a much more dangerous opponent for Jones AND he will have a training camp behind him. I would love nothing more then for Jones to regret his decision and lose to Machida and then be booted out of the UFC. I know how unlikely this scenario is but im just so ******* sick of Jon Jones and the sht he pulls. He needs to be taken down a notch so he doesnt consider letting his fans buy a outdated shirt as "Blessing" them.

I am. I have no reason not to be. I am a fan of fighting and he is an awesome fighter. I don't look to these guys as role models, or to be an example of moral conduct or anything like that. As long as they bring it to the octagon every time they have a fight. While I am dissapointed I won't see Jones fight next week, I will see him fight a few weeks later and that's fine with me. And I can't fricken wait.
As far as these tweets and contradicting statements. Jesus Christ guys. Maybe some of you are not in your 20's yet, or still in your early 20's so this won't mean much, but damn, I am 42 years old and if I think about everything I said when I was in my 20's, everything I meant to do vs everything I did and every mistake I made......Holy shit, I could write a book about it. So who am I or any of you to critisize this guy for making the same kind of mistakes we have all made (or will make if your still in your teens)?
Just because he is a Champion Belt Holding UFC Fighter, doesn't mean he isn't still a 24 year old kid. Give him the same amount of slack you probably got, or will need when you were or will be in your early 20's.

He did have a back up plan, however Jones shot it down. Makes no sense a lot easier fight and a easy pay day. Jones is ready, but simply turned down Chael for reason unknown, now he is force to fight Machida.
