Trying to look at this situation from an unbiased perspective, I am still amazed that fans and fighters alike are up in arms about Jones decision.

I read an article early today explaining that the fighters will be paid or moved to the next event. I can understand teh lose of revenue from sponsership. But in the event that a undercard or main card fighter was hurt prior to the fight what occurs then?

In regards to Dana White, Im actually shocked that he would resort to flaming a fighter in a organization that is trying to grow. I think his brashness is going to ruin the sport in general. I also don't think he should have cancelled the card. You find replacements for the fight and continue as planned.

I look at the situation like this....Im in college studying anatomy and physiology for serveral weeks preparing for my finals. A few days (8 days) before the test the teacher goes on sick leave and another bio teacher comes in to replace him. The bio teacher figuring that your a/p I and bio I are simialar sciences decides he wants to give you a bio final....would you take that test on such short notice?

Jon Jones was scared to do something that Bisping has already done. He had no problem fighting Shogun on 2 weeks notice for the title, why can't he defend it? He just hasn't acted like a true champion and instead has taken on the role of 'entitled brat'. This wasn't his first strike!

Very selfish move when the odds are stacked heavily in his favour. It's not like Chael was going to KO him, at the very worst it'd be a decision for Chael but even that is highly unlikely. It was a strong display of a weak mind and sheer cowardice from Jones.

I hear ya. I left a similar post about how unprofessional I think Dana is being.
All he is doing is confirming the skeptics thoughts that MMA is a joke and not a legit sport.

No other President of any legit sport would ever do and say what he did. Even if he was 100% correct, which I don't think he was by a long shot, it was grossly unprofessional at the least.

He comes across as some loose cannon that has no control over his sport or even himself.

Can you imagine if the Commissioner of the NFL or the NBA came out and slammed a player like that, with all those F-Bombs and all the rest. He would be fired the next day.

Granted this is fighting and not the NFL. But if Dana wants to be on the same level as the NFL (Which he clearly does) he is simply going about it the wrong way.

I love MMA. I am hardcore and will always watch. But I think this promotion is about maxed out right now in terms of popularity and exposure.

If David Stern was the commissioner of the UFC it would be a lot worse than it is currently.

And what was bispings result after accepting that fight on short notice? He got further away from the title contention. I think it wasn't cowardly, I do think Jones has a heathly respect for Sonnens fighting abilities and knows that sonnen is/was training with Hendo before the fight so these out of shape middleweight claims I feel are unwarranted.

Bisping isn't even a quarter of the wrestler Jon Jones is and he managed to stuff the majority of Chael's TDs and even took him down once himself. Anderson took Chael down in their first fight. Bones could have kept it on the feet and beaten him up or suplexed him and elbowed him into oblivion. Instead he chose to not fight at all.

Not really. He was always at least a fight and a victory away from getting a shot and probably still is. Instead there was a significant swing in people's attitudes towards him as a person, respect for stepping up and a recognition that he could hang with the top guys in the division.

Which sport is more mainstream and televised in more households and bringing in more money? The UFC or the NBA?

But look at the end result...how many title fights has bisping had in the ufc....now how many has sonnen had? Also Im pretty sure that camp has thought of ways to derail jon jones...

Not to sound like an ass but Bisping has respect against top guys now? All the top guys he has faced he has lost 2 (Hendo and Shad) as well as mid tier fights (Wanderlei)
