Im going to be honest so I may come across slightly sexist. I think the Ronda attitude would of been great for some male MMA champs but not for WMMA champs. We live in a world where female etiquette is still different from men.

Look at Edgar, he doesnt get the proper respect for his LW accomplishments and is underrated by fans. If he had an attitude like Ronda then he would of been a big LW PPV draw, only because of his title reign and his recent close but unjust losses. He would of had more media exposure and made some MMA headlines.
I actually hate fighters who talk smack except for fighters who actually back it up.

I agree 100%. I was a huge Jones fan and I love watching him fight but I never thought I would see him turn down this fight. His ego is getting huge and he is changing from what made me like him in the first place. All I know is fighters want to fight. Liddell never turned down a fight. I forgot the quote but a long time ago Liddell fought when he was #1 contender against Sobral I believe. They asked him why he would risk his title shot and his reply is I think I am the best and if I lose then I don't deserve to be champion anyways. I wish more fighters would have this attitude.

I'm disappointed on a number of levels, but at the end of the day, who is ultimately responsible in the UFC organization to ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen? Who is supposed to fix these situations so we don't lose cards?

These fighters are professionals, just as many of us are. How many times can you go to the well by asking a guy to be a "company man"?

I've been in that boat, and it gets old pretty fast.

Good will only goes so far. If the UFC REALLY wanted this card to be saved, I'm sure there was an amount of money that would have saved it.

As I said, these guys are pros; they fight for $$$. Money talks.

Yeah, it's laughable.

I love how the natural reaction of people who don't agree with jones is to discredit his character and his judgement as a professional fighter. Hmmm... THE actual fighter AND a champion? Yeah, what Jones has to say is worth a hell of a lot more than anything you bozos are peddling.

Get over it!

Rhonda just put in her opinion. It is flawed in some peoples minds and correct in others. She really should talk to Jones about his decision first before talking down about his decision if she is really his friend but that really is her attitude so this is more a judge of her character rather than on jones. She dances around and ducks Cyborg whenever they will be able to fight too I bet.

Jones did what a smart person promoting their business does. Is it what fight fans want to see? No. Still think he should do what he feels ok with and he still is one of the most dominant fighters out there. He did not feel like the risk was worth it and in the end it is his decision. The sonnen fight would not have interested me anyways so I am not really that bummed about not being able to see it. Sonnen has not done anything to deserve that fight in the first place and no matter what this is MMA. Any fighter is dangerous no matter who you are. It was smart just not what people want to see.

Personally, I find it particularly interesting because here you have even a chick saying that Jones needs to grow some balls.

Yes, and? Do you have some point you're trying to make? I believe Jones made a selfish choice, but I'm more than over it at this point. His decision doesn't make him any less the reigning champion or talented fighter. There's a difference between saying Jones made a selfish choice and saying Ronda's opinion should be ignored because no one cares about women's MMA or its champions. Though obviously that glaring difference is lost on you and the gentleman above.
