Sean Salmon: I Havenít Been Contacted About Fighting Ryoto Machida

oh...nooooo!!!!! pls Joe Silva ...don't you even consider putting this up this match-up!

Quote:
Although UFCjunkie.com-sponsored fighter Sean Salmon (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) addressed the situation in the previous postís Comments section, I felt it was worth repeating here: the UFC has not contacted Sean about fighting Ryoto Machida at UFC 70 now that his opponent, Forrest Griffin, has been dropped from the fight card (staph infection).

A rumor, which looks like it began on the Sherdog Forums, began circulating last night stating Sean was going to be Griffinís replacement to fight Machida on the April 21 card.

However, as Sean stated this morning: ďThis is the first Iím hearing of it. So no, itís not me.Ē

(You gotta wonder what motivation people have when they make up these rumors.)

In any manner, Sean was recently cleared to begin training again, and heís focused solely on his UFC 71 bout with Eric ďRedĒ Schafer. That fight takes place May 26 in Las Vegas.

For his latest training updates, check out Seanís previous ďFull-Time FighterĒ column.

Jardine and Lambert are nursing injuries ...

Quote:
ďThe UFC injury woes in the last week continued with Forrest Griffin having to pull out of his UFC 70 match on 4/21 in Manchester, England with Lyoto Machida. Griffin is suffering from a staph infection in his knee. UFC attempted to get both Keith Jardine and Jason Lambert as replacements. Jardine is out with a shoulder injury, and Lambert is still hurting from his 3/3 match with Renato Sobral that he ended up winning. At this point they are still looking for a new opponent for Machida for the show that airs on Spike TV.Ē

Salmon isn't as bad as he gets credit for. He was doing pretty well in the stand up against Rashad. But then again, Rashad is still developing his striking.

He's not good, but he has enough of a skill set to develop into a fairly good fighter. He's the kind of guy the UFC needs...food for up and coming stars.

i definitely dont think sean salmon sucks. i see alot of potential in him, not necessarily as a top contender, but he can definitely mix things up and add alot of depth to this division.

What about rashad vs lyoto?

They will probably give lyoto some push over opponent like Ross Poiton

Rashad was looking for the big shot the whole time, thats why Salmon got anything on him, striking or takedowns. He has zero ground game when he gets a guy down, Rashad threw him off like he was nothing almost right away right after the takedowns. He doesnt defend himself at all when he is standing. Im really wondering what people saw in him, and no Im not just judging him by his ridiculous jumping kick he tried to throw.

I agree with kds123 and xbrokenshieldx. I actually liked a little of what I saw out of Sean. He needs to improve for sure, but I want to see more of him before I start calling for his head. Why are people hating on him? He came in, he tried his best, he lost. Give the guy another chance.
