Although UFCjunkie.com-sponsored fighter Sean Salmon (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) addressed the situation in the previous post’s Comments section, I felt it was worth repeating here: the UFC has not contacted Sean about fighting Ryoto Machida at UFC 70 now that his opponent, Forrest Griffin, has been dropped from the fight card (staph infection).
A rumor, which looks like it began on the Sherdog Forums, began circulating last night stating Sean was going to be Griffin’s replacement to fight Machida on the April 21 card.
However, as Sean stated this morning: “This is the first I’m hearing of it. So no, it’s not me.”
(You gotta wonder what motivation people have when they make up these rumors.)
In any manner, Sean was recently cleared to begin training again, and he’s focused solely on his UFC 71 bout with Eric “Red” Schafer. That fight takes place May 26 in Las Vegas.
