Also, excluding catchweights? He only faught the first two cage rage ones at LHW. The rest were (again, excluding catchweights) MW. So, out of 8...6?
Only reason Hendo fought Anderson, and Rampage Chuck was because they had no other match ups for them. And Chuck wanted to avenge his loss to Rampage. I still don't agree with them, but just explaining.

Yes, catch weight fights aren't at 185, and should not be counted as a factor when ranking him at 185. But yeah, I get your reasoning, I just don't agree with it. The only credible top 10 (top 5) guy he beat was Franklin... And a horribly deflated Johnson.

I think we're off-topic.

Weidman is a contender, no doubt, but so are the other names I mentioned. None of them deserve a title shot, they have to get big wins Vs each other.

My main issue is "He's AS's biggest test" or "He has a great chance to win". Weidman isn't even in the same sport as Chael Sonnen and I think he gets KTFO by Belfort and Hendo.

Hector Lombard
Rich Franklin
Michael Bisping/Brian Stann
Alan Belcher
Vitor Belfort

If Weidman gets a win over any of them, he is worthy of a title shot imo.
What? They're not in MMA?

Hector Lombard? The same Hector Lombard who just threw a dud in his debut? Tim Boestch would be a much better fight, considering you know...he beat Lombard.

Rich Franklin? Washed up, not a contender anymore, it would look like a repeat of Griffin/Franklin.

Stann? I'm guessing you obviously haven't followed Weidman's career, well let me educate you, as a purple belt at the 2009 ADCC this guy went to points with Andre Galvao. I'm pretty sure he'd have no problem handling Stann on the ground, if Chael can sub him, you best believe Weidman can.

And Bisping? Well, this guy's never done anything ever to warrant a top ten ranking or title discussion. Same with Alan Belcher, just because he beat the grossly overrated Rousimar Palhares doesn't mean he's a contender. Palhares has always sucked.

And Vitor Belfort....whose he beat again at 185?

Give Weidman another fight and should he win impressively I'd love to see him face Silva.

Meanwhile though - Silva vs. GSP - Superbowl weekend

Is 10 or 11 weeks from UFC 154 to SB weekend even enough for GSP to recover and train for Silva? I highly doubt it. April at the earliest would seem more likely.

The notion that Anderson Silva is afraid of or wants to avoid anyone in his weight class is just disrespectful.

I think Weidman is the best fighter at 185lbs now that Vitor and Chael have moved up to 205lbs. Before I would of liked to have see Chris fight Vitor since they are ranked #2 and #3 at 185lbs and I truly think they were the best.

But now Since Chris is left with the options of only Belcher (spinal Injury), Bisping (if he beats Stann), Barbarian(Luckiest 185'er ever). I feel Weidman should get his shot with Anderson right away.

The division basically naturally cleaned itself out. Anderson should fight Chris when he comes back in 2013. GSP is never going to fight Andy. He has been ducking him for 4 years with every excuse know to man. He even once said he would do better at 155lbs.

Let me start off by saying I think Bisping is going to beat Stann. I say this because I personally think Weindman and Bisping should both get shots at Anderson. After he beats both of them, which he will, then he can vacate the title and let most likely Bisping and Weindman go at it for the strap.

On the other hand, he could just drop it now... fight GSP, beat him soundly, fight Jon Jones then retire. That would be cool too... and if he won all four of those fights, or both of them depending on how it went down... only a fool could argue his greatest ever title.

If and when Anderson vacates the title then Chael Sonnen is going to become MW champ.

I had a discussion with someone that was trying to compare Anderson Silva to Jon Jones ducking Chael.

And i thought the exact same thing..

"After everything Anderson has done for people to claim he is ducking or denying fights with anyone is completely absurd and they should probably not be allowed to watch MMA".

Im starting to think that fighters arnt allowed to say "Well that fight does not interest me" anymore. Because as soon as they do people start claiming that they are ducking them.

is Wiedman good? yes is he a big threat to anderson? no. he'll be hyped as the guy who can beat silva to sell the fight. until father time slows down silva noticeably. I can't see a Wiedman beating him

Sonnen had a hard cut to 185 the last 2 or 3 fights he had there. He is now going at it at 205 and I'm sure he will bulk up a little bit. At what? 35 years old I doubt he makes the move back to 185 even if Anderson retired in a year. If the cut was hard then it will kill him after he bulks up for 205.

I agree with your other point.

Weidman doesn't deserve a shot and frankly Silva shouldn't be that excited for that fight. But if that is what the UFC wants to do next I'm sure Silva will be ok with destroying 1 more MW before he goes after GSP.

I'm sure the UFC is as excited for a Weidman shot as Silva is. Unless it is a real good card that main event won't get people buying the PPV.

I want Anderson back on free TV!
