Was Shogun just "unfortunate" with his first loss to Bones?
Or would he at least be competitive if they fought again?
To me it seems unfortunate, yes it was a good knee by jones, but it was alot like Rampage VS Shogun ie rampage would have been alot more competitive had he not taken that early knee to the ribs from shogun!
Can shogun beat Bones? I think with the right game plan he has one of the best chances, if I were shogun I would stay on the outside and take out Bones legs, and if he came forward counter punches with hooks and train to avoid the knees at all costs.

How is getting hit by a strike the opponent meant to hit you with "just unfortunate"? it's like saying it was just a "lucky knee" by Bones.
No, it would not be any more competitive. Unless Shogun figures out how to deal with the reach of Bones, which I don't see happening. With Machida all he had to do was pretty much follow the same game plan he had the first fight.

The only thing way I can say that Shogun was unfortunate was that he went from having a bad style match up, (Him vs. Rashad) to a REALLY REALLY bad style match up, (him vs. Jones) with only a month prep time. He probably trained for a wrestle that he could beat standing and he'd have to avoid a double leg... instead he got a wrestler that could beat him standing and never had to do a single shot.
All around... it was a bad time for Shogun...

Definetely cannot affirm that. Shogun destroyed Alistair Overeen, for the reach matter.
Shogun is clearly not the same after all his health issues, directily affecting his explosion and stamina, but still a warrior and deserving credit and respect for still be on top.

Shogun is one of my favorite fighters ever.Even a Shogun that is not near the same as before, is still a great fighter and always bring fights that makes you jump through roof!
Shogun lost to Jones cus Jones is a much much better fighter.Simple as that..
