Brendan Schaub Plans To Test His ‘Weak Chin’ Against Lavar Johnson

Brendan Schaub comments on his next bout against Lavar Johnson. The bout is set to take place at UFC on Fox 5 Dec. 8, 2012 from Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.

Schaub has been finished in his past two bout via knockout. Firstly losing to Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134 in Brazil the loss was then followed another first round knockout loss to Ben Rothwell.

Following the losses Schaub’s chin has been called into question. However in his next bout against the hard hitting Lavar Johnson he plans to answer those questions and prove his doubters wrong.

“I think it’s good to control your own destiny. I just throw a name out there. He’s had three fights in the UFC and two Knockouts of the Nights. His sole loss is to Struve. I think people are scared of him. I think it’d be a good fight. Lavar hits hard. For me, yeah people say I have a weak chin, so this would solidify my place. But I fight at heavyweight. Everyone hits hard.”

My advice to Schaub would be to go down to Men's Wearhouse and get a really nice suit tailored to his specifications a week or so before the fight. If he's really planning to "Test his chin" against Johnson, he's a dead man.

2 consecutive KO losses in the 1st round, i think his done his fair share of testing. He'd better go for a submission and the groundgame.

I'd say a little too much testing if he still thinks it's a good plan.

Testing your chin against any fighter is a dumb idea. The last fighter I've heard say he was going to "Test is Chin" was Chuck Liddell...

I never get it when a fighter says that his going to test his chin. Is he admitting of letting the guy hit him or what's the point.

Because apparently they want to give off this idea that they can take a good punch, as if MMA is an Iron Man contest.

Look, we get it Brendan. You're in the UFC and you don't want to look weak, let alone weak in an area you can't train. Here is the reality though, at HW pretty much everyone has KO power, and funny enough that includes you. Some guys have more KO power than others, but what does that mean? That means when you face a guy like Shane Carwin or Lavar Johnson your gameplan should be to replicate Lyoto Machida more than it should Big Country. In other words, tuck that chin, get some solid head movement, and get that fight to the ground.

Most of the times I've herd a fighter say that they are talking about the other guys chin.

Rothwell KOd you with what was basically an open handed slap and you where riding an invisible bicycle to heaven. And you want to bang with a guy who destroyed pat Barry standing? Yeah no.
