IMO Jones wouldnt have beaten Barnett, but Cormier would handle all of Jones opponents.

Yeah, I think it would take him some time to drop enough weight correctly to be able to make the cut without negative side effects.

I'd watch that fight though!

At LHW? If so I disagree. Machida and Rua would give him some trouble IMO.

This, if Jones' opponents fought Cormier at HW. IMO Daniel is a natural HW, at least at this point in his life, and I think his physical talents would be nullified if he fought seasoned LHW's at their weight.

Jones vs Cormier at HW? Cormier all day for me. The only guys I would not be confident in him against right now are JDS and Reem.

JDS because yes he terminates everyone, but the key here is that he beat a very similar fighter in Velasquez. Cormier has better hands than Velasquez IMO but JDS is still well ahead and should find an opening to time. Great grappling base for Dan of course, but look at the variety of fighters who have been forced to stand. JDS favourite.

Reem is a danger to Cormier for his clinch work. He's devastating in a stationary clinch, against the fence, and most importantly when being pushed backwards. If you're going to shoot on him, make sure not to leave enough room for knees. Dan has the hands to set Reem up, Reem does have a really good sprawl too. I'd say Cormier can weather the storm and turn the fight around later, when his fitness overtakes Reem's. He definitely needs to be careful early on though.

Otherwise, I like Cormier against anyone right now, awesome fighter.

What I observed was a fighter with decent striking able to shore up his deficiencies with impeccable wrestling. Watching him outgrapple a champion grappler in Barnett was quite impressive. Barnett had a significant size advantage as well.

Cain's striking is more refined though. This is the first fight I wanted to see against the current LHW title holder.

Cormier should take it and fast track himself into stardom. The world would embrace a very humble individual as him. He always gives credit to his team mates and has opted to go down to LHW instead of fighting his friend and mentor.

Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

If he isn't planning on coming down permanently to LHW, there is no point in setting a fight with Jones unless it's at HW or some catch weight. Cormier would have to make a long term change in getting his weight right if he wants to fight at 205.

Cormier's striking is far ahead of Cains. He may not throw kicks, but this is MMA. Cormier is the more effective, polished striker period. His head movement is maybe ten leagues above Cain's too.

No he doesn't. he ran from Barnett waiting for the time to run out.
