Attempt at defending Jon Jones

Ok ladies and gents, I'm not here to start any arguements or make any enemies, but I'm going to tell you why you are immensely over criticizing our exceptional LHW Champ -

First off, have you all forgotten what this sport is about? It's FIGHTING. Hell, 10 years ago? If Jon Jones had popped up everyone would be IN LOVE with him without the media that has slowly risen up and controlled the UFC for the past few years. (Let me remind you, we've all been so drawn to Chael vs Anderson for so long, why? Because of the media and the personality of Chael)

Sure, Jon isn't much of a talker. Who are you to judge him? This man has risen up from who knows really what childhood and at his young age achieved accomplishments that people only dream of. He is a FIGHTER. All he has ever wanted to do was be Champ and fight.
We all loved him before he was a champ, what happened? He's young, he let the attention and media get to him, SO WHAT? He isn't the greatest speaker, he gets nervous and isn't Chael (Who I think WE ALL have been spoiled by lately, in terms of public relations skill) But

He's a unique and damn good fighter, and a nice guy... something all of you have forgotten. He's getting so much heat because of the UFC 151 outcome.. but think about this -

1 - Chael comming off of a embarressing loss to Andy, talking complete shit to Jones out of nowhere. Frankly, if I was champ and someone did that to me, I would tell them to f-off because they don't deserve the chance yet at fighting me. Chael haden't earned it. In anyone's eyes.

2- Dana asked him (Jones) to fight a completely different fighter. Chael is a big dude. Hendo is big but Chael has a severe height and reach advantage. This isn't even the crucial aspect, the fact that Jones most likely (can't say possitive :confused03) spent most of his sparring time with someone throwing the H-bomb over and over. Chael could very well go in there and take him down and try to lay and pray for a few rounds to get a decision - VERY UNLIKELY but hey, it's a fight.. anything could happen - which brings up another point

*Jon had NOTHING to gain with this fight and everything to lose. He's young and want's to be the next Anderson Silva, he's said it himself. On short notice, with a completely different stylistic matchup, AND someone whos been badmouthing his way to title shots, I don't blame Jones for saying no. Do I think I would have made this same decision if he was champ? No I would have pummeled Chaels head in. BUT, Jones is his own person.. he should be able to make decisions and be forgiven or not blamed for. It wasn't Jons decision to cancel the card.. had he known that? He would have fought Chael in a heart beat. He wanted to pay everyone their salaries but decided not to because of the smack talk - Would you guys really spend your own money to pay people who couldn't fight because of your BOSSES decision, after they talk shit about you? I doubt I would. Who knows

Anyways, my rambling is just to maybe put some thought into all of the hate towards Jon. He's human. He makes mistakes but he's never purposely done someone wrong. The guys religious as all get out, you've all seen him. The last thing the guy wants to do is do someone wrong.

"MMA and Muay Thai are similar in a few aspects, such as the fact that their is no traditional belting system - only a list of people you never want to have to fight." - Kenny Florian

People are angry at him because he refused to fight.

If someone talks shit to me and I'm the world champion, and I'm asked if I want like 100k to fight him, I'm going to embarrass him, put an end to the shit talking, prove that I'm the best and make a truck load while doing so..

2- Dana asked him (Jones) to fight a completely different fighter. Chael is a big dude. Hendo is big but Chael has a severe height and reach advantage. Chael might have a reach advantage over Hendo, but you're talking Chael Vs Jones. Jones has the longest reach in UFC history. But I agree, Chael had a tiny chance of winning. That's why Jones didn't want to fight him. I mean, is not fighting someone because you think you could lose really a relevent point?

*Jon had NOTHING to gain with this fight and everything to lose. He's young and want's to be the next Anderson Silva, he's said it himself. Anderson Silva offered to fight on this card at short notice, in a weight class above his regular. Jon Jones is a long way from becoming him. Jon Jones lost more by not accepting the fight than if he had lost it fair and square.

If Jones had done some slight thought, he'd have realized that there was no other UFC 151 fight that could hold the card together. Did you genuinley want to see it go ahead without the main event? EVERYONE would be pissed off about it. Dana had no choice. Sure it was bad business to make such a one fight card, but considering that the UFC has brought what most considered to be a 'barbarian's sport' into the mainstream, I think it's unfair to question their business credentials.

Osama Bin Ladin was pretty religious too.
Replied.
