His track record speaks for itself. One finish in how many fights? Thanks for coming out.

I don't give a shit how many finishes he has.
I liked the first Penn fight, both Maynard fights, and both Henderson fights, and apparently, a lot of other people liked his fights with Maynard aswell since they changed a lotr of people's opinions about both of them. Before UFC 125 no one wanted to see that fight and after it everyone thought it was one of the best title fights of all time.

Truth is I have never seen Lamas fight. Edgar is a much bigger name than Lamas, and definitely a smarter business decision by the UFC. Korean Zombie is quite a big name but not anywhere near Edgar in name value or skills.

I'm surprised some of you don't know who he is. Not saying the average fan should, but hardcore fans should know him as the guy who derailed Hioki.
I completely understand why they did this. Is was unfair but definitely a better business move. They need to hype up their 145 contenders better. No one knows who Koch or Lamas are yet they both nearly fought for the title.

The thing is the small guys will never be as popular as the bigger guys no matter how much the UFC promotes them, even if the do, on average, put on more exciting fights.
Like Dana said "the bigger guys always get top billing", which has everything to do with what the fans want.

I don't see Edgar as a boring fighter and the majority of MMA fans seem to be big supporters of him.
Lamas was called up to "potentially" replace Koch, because it wasn't clear what Edgar was planning to do. It was the UFC's damage control. They obviously thought of Edgar straight away but probably couldnt get in touch or something. Kombie def should have got that phonecall though. Most MMA fans are big on the guy because he's always exciting. Edgar is bigger and more skilled than him, but I think Zombie is a big enough name that if Dana had phoned him, he'd have kept the shot over Edgar.
I'd say Zombie would have got the shot and Edgar would have faught Mendes.

I think after he lose, he will drop the bottom and have to wins some fights without decisions.
Beside his win Maynard, he been to decisions in 5 of his last 6 fights. Another GSP in the making.

This isn't heavyweight. Frankie was a 145er fighting guys with 20-30lb advantages. Is it easy to finish Penn or Bendo? How many people finish them? Not sure what you are talking about.
How about Bendo? His last 6 fights all decisions. He hasn't finished 1 guy in the UFC yet and that trend will continue because he isn't going to finish Nate Diaz. He is one of the bigger LWs out there and fought the smallest LW out there twice and couldn't finish the little guy. What would you call him?

I think Bendo has a good chance against Diaz. Its just the question of what version of Nick Diaz shows up. The one that got his butt kicked and slammed by Rory in Toronto or the one that defeated Jim Miller on Fox. Ask yourself that question before assuming you think Diaz gonna win. Plus Bendo is a very strong and all round complete athlete.
Why are you bring up Bendo in this division? I have specifically stated Edgar hasn't 'earned' the right to fight Aldo.
Its gonna be a boring fight because everybody knows Aldo is going to win and if you wanna bring up Bendo, he just exposed Edgar. Edgar is flat footed when checking kicks. Easy win for Aldo who is notorious for throwing those kicks.
Hell, I think Faber and Edgar would see the same results on any day with Aldo. The similarity between the two, they don't rely on using their feet unless springing around to use their fists or absorb leg kicks. The only thing they got going for them is cardio and heart. Beyond that, I don't think either can bring something different to Aldo.

This is Nate not Nick and Rory is a 170 lber, Nate has obviously hit his stride at 155 although I would like to see him fight a composed Cowboy in a rematch. I still think Cowboy could beat him. Regardless, as for the Edgar/Aldo fight, I don't know why this is a "lock" for Aldo, Edgar is by far the best fighter he's ever fought. I'm also unaware of how good Aldo's chin is, Edgar was dropping guys at 155 and I'm interested to see if he can KO guys at 145.
