It was a really nice film.
Make no mistake, when he was living with Cus, he was training his ass off. That's what enabled him to train so lightly later on. The dude was super fine tuned at 19 years old. Like you say, imagine if Cus was 20 years younger and Tyson continued under him? Devastating.
His relationship with Cus is one of the most heart-warming things I've ever read or heard of in my life.
My opinion of Tyson in MMA? Well, if he stopped boxing at 19 and trained MMA he would have been super impressive by the time he hit 25. His boxing skills at 20 we're at the very least on par with a modern JDS. EDIT. I say that because I dont want to disrespect JDS... but really? Tyson was superior.

For sure.
I remember when he talked about when the guy invited him over to his house. And the whole time he was thinking about how he can rob them. But he never went through with it and cus became the best thing in his life.
Most of his losses came from not training. When he was younger and tearing through people he was training his ass off.

Yea. I know that. But JDS is such a nice chap I hate saying anything even remotely derogatory about him.
So, we've established that Tysons boxing skills at 19/20 we're superior to the best HW strikers right now. Hypothetically, if he kept those same skills sharp and focused on learning the other aspects of MMA, there's nothing to say he wouldn't have been far better then any of the current HW's by the time he hit 25/26.

Its not to harsh on JDS, his style is made for MMA while Tysons would have to undergo some adjustments. Tyson was an animal and would go through a lot of mma fighters on that alone. Tyson was a freak though, like Jon Jones is in his own way - you get these guys sometimes.

I love that Sapp video. Tyson seems like such a fuking gangster in it. Sapp's going for all these comebacks and tried to cheap shot Mike but the dudes just standing there saying "Lets go outside right now and fight..."

Mike would have done great in MMA.He he had such a low base of gravity when he boxed he'd be so friggin hard to take down. And he threw hooks with BAAAAAD intentions. They would only need to clip someone in 4oz gloves and it would be good night irene!

his 5 punch combos were more like shotgun blasts than a kick.
