Shane Carwin vs Roy Nelson. Who you guys got?
I read that these two would be coaching this next season of The Ultimate Fighter, and I was just wondering what everyone thought of the match up. Personally, I can't decide, but my heart is with Big Country. What do you think and why?

Roy eats too many shots when he strikes and I don't see him taking Carwin down.
I think its going to be a slug fest one way or the other.

Carwin. I know Roy has a chin, but Carwin will likely put him to sleep. If Carwin could eat JDS' punches for 3 rounds, he can take whatever Roy has for him. I know Roy also took JDS' punches for three rounds, but I truly don't believe JDS hits as hard as Carwin does. All my opinion of course. I think Roy gets put to sleep for the first time.

Carwin, I think it's going to be brutal. Roy was also KO'd by Arlovski so this wouldn't be the first time he goes out.

Roy Nelson is a better, more natural fighter. Carwin is old coming off a huge layoff, still has no gas tank, limited grappler.
Carwin has a non-zero chance but I'd go with Nelson comfortably.

I'm just saying they both hit hard and can take hard shots. Between the two of them, I think Roy actually has a better gas tank, and he's been slimming down slowly but consistently from fight to fight. Who knows what he could look like come fight night?

It's not as easy as it looks although Carwin should be the overwhelming favorite. If Carwin doesn't blow his gas he should take it. Otherwise Roy could outlast em.
Seeing Mir outmuscled Roy in the clinch and Shane obliterated Frank in the clinch. Yes, I do think MMA math applies here. Again the only issue is Carwin's gas tank especially with the very long layoff.

Yeah but still, he couldn't take down Mir, CC, JDS, and Werdum a thinner Roy Nelson isn't going to take Carwin down. And you know with Rothwell, and Hunt coming off long layoffs can improve your cardio.

This is true.... Damn, Roy really just needs to drop to 205.
Then again, in this fight, being a smaller heavyweight could work to his advantage. Carwin has been known to sort of lumber around a lot. If Roy could possibly outmaneuver him and wear him out he could have a good chance.
