Well, Fitch is still on the card.....for now....so if he stays on, I'm good, dunno about the rest of you, hopefully this thing gets moved out of Brazil so he has a chance of wrestle****ing Erick to a decision.

The video (audio really) in the other thread Rashad say's he's waiting for a call. Failing that he can't see fighting till the new year.

Huge Rashad fan so I hope, and think he will step up, or they put Lyoto v Rashad as the new main event.

Almost any fighter who starts in the UFC who's trying to make a name for themselves, never backs out. Plus he seems like a real bad ass, is fighting at home and would like nothing more than to beat someone senseless in front of his Brazilian fans.

Maybe the UFC should start naming a alternate for each fighter so there will be a replacement for everyone if they get hurt. I injuries are getting to be more and more common it seems.
Im serious when I say this, remember in the early days when the UFC fought i night tournaments? they had guys fight early in the day and the winner was an alternate if some one got hurt.
Never mind, Some fighters might not fight if they didnt have enough time to prepare for the alternate...

What do you guys think, would it work???

I don't really think so, financially speaking. The UFC would have to pay that said alternate a fee for cutting weight, training and so forth, and imagine if the alternate got hurt training, and the main guys dind't get hurt. Then the UFC is paying the alternate for no reason lol. So from a business standpoint, I don't think it would fly.

Damn. Rampage is doing the right thing though, I think he genuinely wants to put on at least one more great fight.

Glover will be lucky to get someone with as big a name, I doubt he gets Evans or Machida, those two are the perfect main card replacement fight for the next couple months.

Maldonado really wants the fight:

Quote:
If the UFC is looking for volunteers, Brazilian striker Fabio Maldonado (18-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is standing with his hand in the air.

The 32-year-old Maldonado said he's ready and willing to face countryman Glover Teixeira (18-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in the co-main event of next month's UFC 153 event – a bout that was supposed to feature Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

Maldonado and his manager, Alex Davis, told MMAjunkie.com they're more than willing to step into the fight on four weeks' notice.

"I want this fight," Maldonado told MMAjunkie.com in his native Portuguese. "I know our styles would make for an incredible fight for the fans, and I want this opportunity. I hope the UFC will grant me this one request."

UFC 153 takes place Oct. 13 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The pay-per-view was supposed to feature a main event featherweight title fight between Brazilian champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar. However, Aldo was also today forced out due to injury.

Teixeira made his UFC debut in May with an impressive first-round submission win over Kyle Kingsbury. The result marked Teixeira's 16th straight win. His most recent loss came in March 2005.

Meanwhile, Maldonado had been expected to fight Jorgen Kruth at this month's UFC on FX 5 event. However, Kruth abruptly retired, and Maldonado was expected to shift to UFC 154, where he would meet Cyrille Diabate. However, UFC officials have yet to announce the new fight, and Maldonado would just as soon they didn't.

"Glover and I were supposed to fight in Brazil back before either of us was in the UFC," Maldonado said. "I think now would be the perfect time. I hope the UFC will make this fight. If they give me the chance, I will knock Glover out."

Would like to see the Maldonado fight.

Going off of what was said earlier, I think what would be a good idea is to make a contender fight of the same weightclass as the ME, and in the scenario of an injury in the ME, a replacement can be made.
