Vladimir Matyushenko Injured and out of UFC 152 card.

When Matt Hamill (10-4) announced his comeback from retirement, it was stated he would be facing Roger Hollett (13-3). Soon after the news came to light, Hollett withdrew and Vladimir Matyushenko (26-6) was tabbed to come in and face Hammill. However, an injury to Matyushenko’s Achilles tendon has now forced him off the card.
In a strange twist, it turns out Hollett is back in against and Hammill with the bout still taking place on September 22 at UFC 152.
As it turns out, the whole scenario ultimately centers around Hollett’s last fight for Bellator which marked the end of his agreement with the organization. However, in standard form, Hollett had a “right to match” clause in his contract stating Bellator had the right to match offers given to him by other promotions. According to MMAFighting, once Bellator heard word of the UFC’s signing they notified Hollett the move would put him in breach of his contract. In response, the UFC gave Hollett a short time to figure it out but eventually went with the Matyushenko fight instead.
In a case of some suspicious timing, the day after Matyushenko was given the fight against Hammill, a Bellator lawyer informed Hollett’s management that they would not be matching the UFC’s offer and he was free to sign with the company. Unfortunately, bout agreements were already signed, and it was too late for Hollett to get the fight. Of course, when Matyushenko was injured, it made it possible for Hollett to get the fight again.
Hollett, who is from Nova Scotia, will now get to fight at UFC 152 in Toronto, Canada in front of his countrymen. The bout will be his first fight since November 2011. “The Hulk” holds an overall record of 13-3 including eleven finishes.
