Stann Not Sold That Bisping Will Stand With Him

ďI welcome him standing with me and trading shots. Thatís an area where itís always been one of my best opportunities to win fights. But I donít think thatís exactly what he is going to do. Heíll use his footwork. Heís not a pocket-puncher-type of guy. Heís a stick-and-move-type of guyÖ Iím not expecting Michael to go out there and get into a kickboxing match with me. Mikeís going to try to mix it up, and thatís fine with me, too. Iím very excited to surprise him in the other realms of mixed martial arts. I feel heís underestimating me in my other skills and thatís fine; Iím not going to tell him how good I am, Iím going to show himÖĒ

Why would he bother when he can just out grapple you, Brian?

I can see this going like Bisping-Silva, a lot of running from Bisping and the few moments he is getting beat on costing him the decision.

Stann isn't the an AMAZING puncher though. I think Bisping will easily outbox him like he did against Leben, and will use a lot more grappling against the cage like he did against Sonnen (and it if was successful against Sonnen, Stann has no chance).

Who cares if he stands? It's MMA, L2Grapple Brian..

1.Stann doesn't move nor have the technique of a zombie like Leban. which is the biggest difference.

2.And the Fact that he badly hurt Leban is a pretty good statement that Stann is indeed a great puncher.

3.Stann's grappling isn't as bad as people have been making out too. Bisping will not out wrestle him and i will be willing to bet on that.

I've been one of the few on here that have said that Bisping is underrated but Stann is a terrible Match-up for him.

Yes it actually is. Everyone - outside of the complete can Mike Massencio - who has taken him down has beaten him. Usually by submission. Everyone who has tried to take him down has succeeded. That's pretty bad.

Bisping held his own against Chael in grappling. Stann got steamrolled and became the first man to be finished by Chael since the mighty Kyacey Uscola in 2007. These are both recent performances by the men, against the same opponent, and thus relevant. Going by all comparative data Bisping is the far superior grappler.

1. Then he's standing in place which is the easiest way to get picked off. He won't have the small glimces of success that Leben did when Bisping almost got caught on the cage.

2. Knocking out Leben proves NOTHING. I agree that he is a pretty heavy puncher, but Leben always has a 50/50 win/lose by knockout rate. If you want to stand and trade with the guy then you have a great chance of knocking him out, but equal chance of being knocked out.

3. Stann's weakest point is his grappling and Bisping's key point is his grappling. I think Bisping easily keeps him on the cage if it comes to that.

I think this is a GREAT match up for Bisping and will show his whole range. He has to keep his gameplan to 100% and use his brain A LOT, but I think he will do just that and prove why he is actually in the elite of the division and deserves a shot at Weidman for the #1 contendership.

Bisping is really just the better fighter all-around. I think he'll put on a point fighting clinic on the feet if that's where the fight stays, but the ground is probably the better place to take the fight since he is less likely to lose there.

My guess is Bisping will stand with him though, it's his bread and butter, and when push comes to shove, most guys instinctively go to where they're most comfortable.

this is just wrong, Stann and A.Silva are the only guys to TKO Leben.. he is not a 50/50 KO or be KO'd kind of guy. what that fight proved is that Stan has massive power and is a technically sound striker through and through even when his opponent makes it a brawl...

Bisping may be a better striker than Stann but he is not so much better that he is never going to get hit. with that kind of power and Bispings cabbage patch chin, it doesn't look too good for the count if he keeps it standing.
