Is Vinny Magalhaes the best pure grappler in UFC history?
Firstly his Armbar last night was sick as was his guard pass to side control. He is obviously a scary grappler but I wonder if he gets the nod over Maia, Gracie and Werdum.
Interested to see who everyone considers the best BJJ exponent, vote away!

This is a tough one. Emotions are high. I'll have to go with Werdum because he submitted the one person who is nearly impossible to submit. Maia is definitely up there.
Igor made a pivotal mistake and paid for it. He had em rocked in the end of the first round. Just needed to continue with that. Fight IQ is way more important than fighter prowess sometimes. Just look at Melvin or Thiago Alves against Kampmann.

Vinny is obviously very slick and super dangerous. He;s in my top 10.
My favourite grappler is the Korean Zombie. Not because of his rare subs, but because of his ability to scramble and get reversals. There's nothing more impressive than using defense as offense. The guy is always able to turn a inferior position into a dominant one through scrambling and reversals.
I personally put more stock into being able to reverse someone as opposed to just straight subs, because the reversals from an inferior position can lead to subs. At some point in time a fighter is going to find themselves losing and the ability to turn it to your favour is what is of real value.

Maia and Werdum are just as good, but both have fallen in love with striking. Vinny wants to tap everyone.

He has also beaten the likes of Dean Lister, Robert Drysdale and Fabricio Werdum.

I understand Vinnys credentials.. he's an animal. Absolutly one of the best in the world. No doubt.
But I wouldn't call him the best pure grappler in the UFC when Jake Shields is in the UFC and has outgrappled him.
IMO Jake is the better proven grappler.

He's fighting like Maia did a few years back - And I'm just loving it!
Last night we saw a beautiful armbar, and I love seeing people working actively for submissions off of their back
