He obviously doesn't want to be the best.

Yet he is the best welterweight in the world for some reason. Despite being a coward and not wanting to be the best.

That is not dead which can eternal lie and withs strange aeons even death may die.

People will never agree on the whole moving up thing. Some people hate on GSP for not moving up but others refer to guys like BJ Penn and Randy Couture's mixed results as a way to deny the credibility of there legacies. Seems like you can't be great if you don't move up and fight the best but you can't be great if you do and lose? Hell BJ and Randy moved up and won UFC gold and that wasn't enough in some people's minds to offset there losses. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't.

I will say that people need to quit acting like this is completely absurd especially when I think many of the same people would love to see Silva/GSP.

One if these guys isn't to big for GSP but the thought of the other fighting him is absurd?
(Personally I think they are both to big but I don't think fighting Machida is any more absurd than Anderson.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

GSP is and will always be the most dominant WW ever until a guy similar to JJ comes in (new breed).

I hate it when people want a great fighter to move up, and when they do (and lose) they moan about how their stock went down, not the same fighter, etc etc.

I give all the credit in the world to BJ for facing Machida back in the day, it was a very close fight

As irrelevent as this fight would be, Machida is an even worse match-up for GSP than Anderson would be. Lets just throw size advantage out the window at this point. Machida as the speed to match GSP, has knock out power, has the strength advantage, and has the TDD.

Here's a simple way to think of the whole Anderson Silva Vs GSP situation.

Anderson Silva = #1
George St. Pierre = #2

If GSP ever wants to become #1, he has to take the fight. If he loses, he's still #2. If he wins, he becomes the greatest of all time. For GSP, there is no losing position for his legacy.

That makes no sense, the actual logic is that GSP winning would mean he is #1 but since he is significantly smaller GSP losing doesn't necessarily mean Silva is the better fighter.

Where did I say any different.

RIGHT NOW the ranks are Silva #1, GSP #2. GSP will NEVER be the best without the fight taking place. If Silva wins, he just increases the gap. If GSP wins, he becomes the best of all time. What possible reason does he have for not taking the fight? If he loses he stays in the exact same position he is in now.

Really go look back at how far back people wanted to push BJ when he lost to GSP. Penn went from a clear top 3 to suddenly being pushed behind the likes of Shogun/Machida/Rashad/Sheilds/Diaz etc in the P4P ranking, Kenny Florian was gonna destroy BJ and show us all how overrated he was. That is the risk, there are those who look at a loss as a loss and refuse to acknowledge the circumstances of those kind of losses.
