He moved up a weight class and beat the dominant champ. If we compare BJ to GSP then yes Anderson Silva is the equivalent of Matt Hughes.

Yeah, but if you compair Anderson to Hughes things are WAAAAY different.

The fact is, the second best fighter of all time on a 9 fight streak Vs the best fighter of all time on a 15 fight streak (or more...depending on pre-ufc silva) isn't exactly the same as BJ and Hughes.

GSP Vs Anderson might be the biggest fight that could ever happen in the UFC and would be the biggest fight to date by far.

Just as the bw and flyweight divisions struggle for credibility to many fans the lw and ww divisions did then. At the time of hughes penn only the lhw and hw divisions had really been embraced by fans. The marketability of a fight shouldn't impact a fighters status in all time rankings or we may as well quit debating it an crown Lesnar the GOAT.

*Tries to become good member*

Would Machida be able to avoid being taken down by GSP? It's interesting to see that Machida doesnt have any submissions off his back.

I think size an strength really become an important aspect when you look at the wrestling. For that reason I think GSP would struggle and likely fail.

I think the style alone might get to GSP with guys like Anderson and Machida. He likes to jab his way in, so to start he has to get past their range, use his own striking, and then go for the takedown. Sonnen has more success because he can rush you and get you there but GSP is more intelligent with it. I think he'd catch some crazy strike and get KOTN'd.
