What Johnny meant was that Canada doesnt have a whole lot of main eventers, which is the reason that there are only Canadians in their main events. In comparisson to Brazil, the amount is almost endless. Big Nog, Wanderlei, Spider, Vitor, Aldo, JDS, Werdum, (Depending on the opponent) Bigfoot, Machida, Shogun, Glover, Erick Silva, Barao etc.

Francis Carmont, bitches. Future MW champion.

I know what Johnny was getting at. I even agreed that Canada lacks main event fighters. Though as was said by Toxic, we certainly have to take into account the fact that the Brazilian and American populace literally dwarf that of Canada. Hell, even the UK has double the amount of people we do, and Japan alone quadruples us. Seems as though people often forget this very relevant fact.

Besides, his exact words were 'Canada has no one outside of Rory and GSP'. If he was being sarcastic then he ought to know by now that sarcasm, or at least his very dry idea of it, doesn't translate all too well into writing.

Agreed.

That was my whole point. Other than GSP and Rory there isn't a Canadian that could co- or main event a PPV. Or even a free card really. They have fighters. But only a couple top 10 talents. More than England can really say tho.

I believe Brazil and U.S. has so many of the top fighters is because they both practice forms of MMA all their lives. (other than the amount of people they have). Brazilians know what BJJ is all their lives, many practicing at an early age. In the US and Canada kids don't know what BJJ is. In the U.S. wrestling is a staple sport and kids wrestle from age 4 or 5 all the way through high school and college. In Canada they may wrestle, but it isn't a huge sport there.

The US and Brazil have had head starts in MMA development. Guys like Randy, Hendo, Sonnen, Hughes, Tito, Coleman are all products of American wrestling. Even guys like Chuck, Big Timmy, and other have a wrestling background of some sort. In Brazil you got guys like Aldo, Oliveira, Barao, getting blackbelts pretty much as boys. And training with BJJ killers all the time. Can't think of many top Brazilians that don't have a blackbelt in BJJ. JDS, but he will soon, and doesn't have enough time right now to work towards it. That is basically where the list ends.

There should be a sarcasm font created.

Canada has a lot better gyms though. So even though England has 20 million more in their population, Canada will always have a lot more elite fighters in the UFC. Also Canadians can train in America which has the best gyms. In England, or more so the UK, there is no one at a really high level training grappling, wrestling or jiu jitsu. The striking is generally well trained because Britian has some of the top boxers and karate is a massive sport at this side of the world.

Bisping is really the only exception because he's trained for so long in America.

I base this perception on absolutely nothing, but I actually expect the UK to produce some top tier fighters in the coming years. I don't know how big MMA legitimately is in the UK, but I get a real sense of 'fighter's spirit' from that particular part of the world. I'm looking forward to seeing if that mentality produces a new breed of British mixed martial artists.

.
Patrick Cote has main evented two ppv's. Now recent setbacks there is no way he could main event a PPV but a fuel tv card absolutely even coain event status at a PPV if he had the right opponent to carry the slack.

Not really man, I know you're a Cote guy and all but he's pretty far down the totem pole, co-main event should be for top ten fighters and Cote might not even be top 20 after that Cung Le fight.

Name some more great Canadian fighters...I'll start:

Mark Bocek
Mark Hominick
Claude Patrick
Ryan Jimmo

You can pick it up from there..

Ill name some well known Brazilian fighters: Anderson, Wandy, Vitor, Machida, Shogun, JDS, Werdum, Big Nog, Bigfoot, Thiago Silva, Lil Nog, Jacare, Erick Silva very soon, Thiago Alves, Aldo, Barao...

Compared to a place like Brazil, Canada has very few good UFC fighters. But that isn't what I could of meant. I guess I'm a bozo. Call me a hater while you are at it.

Get some thicker skin!
Sean Pierson, Mitch Gagnon, ANTONIO CARVALHO, Yves Jabouin, Jordan Mein, John Alessio, Joe Doerksen, Gary Goodridge, TJ Grant, Sarah Kaufman, Jason MacDonald, Ivan Menjivar, Carlos Newton, Nick Ring, Sam Stout. Just to name a few.

D. Cerrone | R. Souza | F. Werdum | R. MacDonald | M. McDonald | D. Maia | J. Mein | C. Condit
M. Coenen | S. Kaufman | A. Davis

All of those guys are mid-level at best. The Canadian talent pool while good, has nothing on the Brazilian talent pool, in terms of elite fighters Brazil absolutely smokes them.

Just watching the UK PPV, I see BIG things for Mills and Nelson.

Now watching the Family Guy episode where Stewie wants Brian to impress him in the olden days against HIMYM (F U rauro) and Lady Redbush so everything gets less impressive.
