Daniel Cormier calling for bout with Pat Barry on November 3

Quote:

When former UFC champion Frank Mir went down with an injury and was forced to withdraw from a scheduled scrap with Strikeforce star Daniel Cormier it left the promotion looking for a legitimate replacement. Though a number of heavyweights were quick to step up and offer their services, including the likes of Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson, Strikeforce has yet to announce who will fill the vacancy opposite Cormier or even hint at the likely possibilities.
However, if Cormier has his way he could end up facing a fighter few have tabbed for the tilt Ė Pat Barry. The hard-hitting kickboxer hasnít fought since May and recently came forward to express his interest in competing again before the end of 2012.
ďHe will take the fight. Letís do it,Ē Tweeted Cormier to UFC President Dana White in hopes of scoring a fight with his fellow Louisianan.
While the 7-5 Barry has lost three of his last four fights, making him a strange selection considering Cormierís interest in challenging for a title, the unbeaten grappler isnít so sure the UFC actually wants to risk one of their top contenders on a non-PPV bout outside of the Octagon. That being said, Cormier also made it clear heís open to fighting anyone the organization puts in front of him on November 3 in Oklahoma City.

At this point i just want DC to fight at November 3rd and get that contract over with.

Pat Barry is a good guy but he would just get taken down and beat to death in this fight.

This. I know Pat has been working on his wrestling, but Cormier is a good wrestler. I'd like to see Pat fight someone like Hunt, De Fries, Rothwell, Russow or Stipe.

It doesn't matter who it is, someone just take the fight.

Slim chance of victory for anyone not named Cigano IMO, but fighting is what these boys get paid to do.

I feel Cormier is slightly overrated but this is an easy enough win. Would be good to see Pat in a high profile fight like this though.

I think Cormier is just trying to call out somebody who he thinks will take the fight because he doesn't want the card cancelled and to end up in Strikeforce purgatory.

Only way i can think of him being overrated is his record and his last 2 victories have been quite good.

He's pretty good, but people saying that the only guy who can beat him is JDS is a bit over the top to me. I see Velasquez smashing him to pieces and Nog probably giving him a hell of a fight.

I'm one of those guys tbh. His striking is on point, has amazing wrestling credentials and has a good cardio (the pace for HW's was impressive on the Barnett fight).

I feel as if we have JDS, Cormier and Overeem in the top and then are those other guys.

He has pretty good striking and he's a good wrestler. He's up there but I still think that until he fights actual talent then it's very early to say otherwise. Lombard being a prime example.
