So is this going to be how it is now?

Every time a fighter turns down a fight people try to make it out to be the same as the Jones situation?

Last I checked Rashad isn't the LHW champion, he hadn't just been through a whole camp training for a fight where his opponent just got injured, Teixeira isn't a MW... And on and on and on...

But yeah, it's exactly the same situation, they should totally strip Evans of his LHW belt.

I wonder who actually wants to fight Teixeira. Put Bader in there?

I don't blame him so much. I understand not wanting to fight on short notice vs. a beast of a fighter.

But fighters are so scared to lose now a days. They don't want to risk anything and it is more about their brand than fighting. Not sure when he was offered but I think he could of got a month of training in at least.

At the end of the day I don't blame him, but it just isn't like it used to be. They act like losing is the end of the world. Yet in reality Dana kisses anyones ass that steps up for him. Fighters shouldn't be so afraid to lose.

I hope Tex keeps winning and gets the chance to knock all these fools out that wouldn't fight him.

No surprise. Fighting a relative unknown on his home turf on short notice is a very bad career move. If he wins it doesn't mean much, if he loses it's an uphill battle back to the top of the ladder.

Who knows how much weight he would need to drop in that couple of weeks. Thats gotta be extremely unpleasant and a major part of why he would turn it down.
Despite all these special weight loss techniques, it can't be healthy cutting all that water out of your body and your brain so rapidly. For all we know he is probably 20kg's over the limit right now.

Fighters should stay in shape because that's their job. Preparing for a fight means just that, preparing for a specific opponent, not getting your goddamn cardio back to where it's supposed to be.

And Jones being the champ just means he had more to lose. DURRR.

I think he stated that he weighed somewhere around 235 when they offered him the fight. So, they would probably be asking him to make a Chris Weidmen style weight cut. I don't blame him for not taking the fight, but he should probably have "No comment"d the Jon Jones situation because now that he's in Jones shoes, he sort of comes across as a hypocrite, even if the situation is completely different.

Rampage pulled out a month away from the fight so Rashad would have had about a month to train.

But he'd also have had to make the weight cut and from what I understand, Rashad is in the 230's right now and he'd also have to go to Brazil to do the last week of cutting weight, which might have been difficult with the translation and what not. I doubt this has less to do with his brand and more to do with him actually having a shot at winning. He'd have been easy prey for Glover had he took it.
