I don't see what the OP means, where does he go?
He goes no where. He stays in the UFC and as a HW.
So what if he loses to JDS again? It is teh HW divison, are people expecting JDS to have an Anderson type run?
What if he goes down to 205 get 1 fight then a title shot and loses? WHere does he go from there? 185? Or should he just quit?
No sure why people think if you aren't fighting for the title then you shouldn't compete? If he loses to JDS he just stays at HW taking huge main event fights and waits for JDS to lose.
Only thing is where Cormier factors in. He is Cain's wrestling coach, so they won't fight. If he wins the HW title, I'm sure Cain would maybe then try to drop. But if Cormier loses or Cain beats JDS it will be Cormier who drops to 205 not Cain.

Cain would have his way with Jones.

But if Cain smashes people as greatly as he did Bigfoot, people will want to see it.

Edgar arguably won the 2nd fight against Henderson, but I doubt there are many anticipating a 3rd fight between the two of them. No matter how well Cain performs, not many are willing to pay for a 3rd fight since JDS would have already defeated him twice. He would just be widely regarded as the 2nd best fighter in the heavyweight division.

The difference there IMO is Edgar and Henderson fought twice back to back, no fights in between. People could be open to a 3rd fight between the two a couple years down the line. Just like it wouldn't have been out of the question to see yet another Maynard-Edgar matchup years down the line.
For Cain he just turned 30 and still has a few years left. If he keeps performing at a high level it's not out of the question he could fight JDS again down the line, just not anytime soon. Only scenario I see otherwise is if JDS gets hurt and there is an Interim Title made. I'm sure Cain would be Mir 2.0 and get the call for any Interim Title fight.

Another difference is that the Edgar fights were competitive and exciting. If Cain gets finished again by JDS...it would be two violent finishes.

Good point. Cain is either going to have to be more competitive this time around he is going to have to dominate for a couple years after the loss to get consideration for a 3rd fight. Unless of course injuries come into play, then Cain could Mir his way into another shot.

You sure about that?
It took Junior only 64 seconds to beat him the first time.

Win or lose, he'd still be a dangerous contender at Heavyweight. The only guy other than JDS I could see beating him is Overeem. Or if nothing else, I could see Dana working his magic and getting him to drop to 205 for a possible shot against Jon Jones. I don't see why people are matching him up against Cormier when not only to they train together, but Cormier is his wrestling coach. That fight is less likely to happen than Koscheck/Fitch. As a matter of fact, I see one of them fighting at 205 depending on who's more successful at heavyweight.
