How can that also not be an issue with commentators? Rogan obviously love BJJ guys. I think that problem can translate to both commentating and judging.

Commentary doesn't affect a fighters livelihood.

Yeah I realize that. But it does effect their quality of work just the same. I was talking about the impact it would have on their ability to do their job not the impact on the fighters or even the sport itself. IMO the bias is there either way.

Not knowing what he's talking about is part of Goldie's job.
It's the same thing in almost every sport, you have a play by play guy who describes what's going on without, on the face of it, understanding much, and an analyst/commentator who explains things to him.
This dynamic is there to benefit the casual fan. the guy who just tuned in and doesn't know what the hell an omoplata is needs to have that shit explained to him, but as the production company you want him to feel included. So you have Goldie ask stupid questions, and Joe explain the basics to him.
The hardcore fans will find this quite irritating, but who cares, they're already hardcore fans. The new people will learn something new, and if they stick around will learn to be annoyed with Goldie eventually. but by then they're already hooked.

The one thing I will say about Florian commentating is that I can't tell the damn difference between his and Anik's voice. Holy **** it's been how many events and they still sound the same to me. My friends came over to watch the fight and one of the first things they asked was why there was only one person commentating. The only time I know it's Florian is when he starts talking about the technical aspects of the fight.

Lol my thoughts exactly
As for the commenting, I like Kenny and think if anyone were to replace Rogan it would be him.
And Don Frye is forever boss.

I'm a big fan of anything Joe Rogan does, actually.

Nope. I would certainly say him and Goldberg are incredibly knowledgeable.
Are the better out there? Possibly, but they don't have the same sized audience as Rogan/Goldberg.
The only thing you can probably say against Rogan is that he has his personal favorites, and can be biased. I think he's better than in the past, but it's noticeable, especially if you listen to his podcasts. Sometimes I honestly think Rogan thinks that Diaz would beat GSP 10/10 times.

Still -- he was saying Kenflo is better than Rogan/Goldie simply because Kenflo was a fighter. That's total BS to me.
That's like saying somebody can't be a good coach/manager/GM because they never played at a professional level. There are many examples of coaches/managers/etc that never played their sport past highschool/college level, yet have had success in the big leagues.
I haven't listened to Kenflo announce in some time, but I couldn't stand him when I did. Love the guy, but the difference between Rogan/Goldie and Kenflo/Anik was night and day.

Yeah I get that but Goldie actually says incorrect information while commentating that goes uncorrected at times and that is not a good thing when it comes to rules and things like that.
