What is the purpose of this?

Sonnen ain't taking bones down. He ain't knocking him out. He ain't submiting him. What's the point?

I said the same thing when i was wondering why Jones would turn down the fight.

But realistically MMA always has an X factor. And that in itself wants to make me watch Sonnen fight Jones.

Most people didnt expect Sonnen/Silva to go the way it did. So i think Sonnen can surprise us.

That logic.. What's the point of challenging GSP? Noone is beating him. Might as well retire as the undisputed king of WW then.

Coming of a loss in a weight class below, he should first get at least about 2-3 GOOD wins before getting a title shot. A win over an over the hill half retired Griffin shouldn't be enough. No trashtalking to title shots please!

If Sonnen does end up getting a shot (and I think, ratings wise, Dana REALLY wants to make this fight) it'll be via Griffin and Rua. Personally I think he beats both, but really only these to to 'legitimately' earn a shot. Machida would most likely brutalise him = no shot = no $$$.

If he really destroys Forrest they could push him into a shot, and it'd probably be accepted too. It's crazy really, to think in just a few years Sonnen went from relatively unknown to 2 shots against Silva and almost talking him way into a LHW shot too.

If he faces Jones, it'll be after defeating Griffin a Rua (regardless, I feel, of the outcome of Rua v Gustaf)
