Travis Browne out for 2-4 months following injury

When UFC heavyweight Travis Browne was hobbled by a leg injury last Friday night at UFC on FX 5 it left fans fearing for the worst. Before long speculation began running wild on how severe the damage was and how long the talented big man would be out. Browne has since provided an update on his condition, delivering news possessing both good and bad elements.

According to Browne, by way of Twitter, he tore his hamstring and will spend some time on the sidelines as a result. On the bright side, the 30-year old is only expected to miss 2-4 months and will not need surgery.

“Hapa” also confirmed he suffered the damage after throwing a high kick in the match-up’s early stages.

Browne entered the bout with an overall record of 13-0-1, suffering the first loss of his career to Antonio Silva who was able to take advantage of his adversary’s health-related woe and score a TKO in the opening round of action.

Fortunately, in light of the recent news, it looks like Browne will have an opportunity to get back on the winning track sooner than later, a prospect leaving fans happy and a few of his heavyweight peers undoubtedly nervous for his return.

I honestly think this was Big Foot's fight irregardless of the injury.

Well this is good news to me. I though he tore his ACL or something like that. No surgery is always a good thing. Hope he comes back healthy. I like T. Browne.

I haven't rewatched this fight yet. Did anyone catch if this happened just from a bad step or a missed punch, or did this happen when he was being an idiot throwing silly kicks 10 feet away from Bigfoot.

I still believe in Travis Browne. People seem to think this loss proves he is a can. But he was obviously hampered by the injury and aside from the Kongo fight he has looked very good against decent opposition.

I still think he could crack the top 5 in the next 2 years.

Browne is a good fighter as long as he never goes into another fight trying to dance around like D. Cruz and drop his hands like Anderson Silva. I was sitting at home going WTF:confused03:

I dont believe thats when he tore it. When Bigfoot went to clinch him, Browne threw a knee of of it. After the clinch eventually broke (following knees to that leg by Bigfoot), Browne could barley walk. If his leg had already been fully injured before that, there is no chance an a guy could throw a knee of that leg before his adrenaline was pumping. I think either the knee or Bigfoot's clinch strikes did the damage.
