Stephan Bonnar details 'paralyzing' knee from Anderson Silva

Quote:
How dangerous is Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva?
Well, not only does he paralyze his opponents with fear before they ever step inside the cage with him, he actually paralyzes them once they do.
That's the word from his UFC 153 victim, Stephan Bonnar, at least, who revealed on his Twitter account following his crushing defeat the details of the first round finish at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last night (Oct. 13, 2012):
"Thanks to everyone for the support, I'm so sorry I lost. I feel so bad for letting my fans down, but I promise to make it up to you. ... Not injured, just caught with a perfect knee to the solar plexus and it paralyzed me, was just getting movement back when fight was stopped.""
That's the thing about "The Spider:" he's so precise with his strikes, it only takes one -- be it punch, knee, or kick -- to put you down.
Bonnar knows that first hand now, no different than so many others before him.
As for what's next, now that the feel-good story has come to a close, it may be time for the former Ultimate Fighter finalist to hang up the gloves for good.
Unless, of course, you Maniacs have a better idea.
Well, do you?

I honestly thought Anderson cracked a rib they way Bonnar dropped. I've been dropped by a body shot before too, so I know what he means when says it can be paralyzing.
Anderson is simply the GoaT. I don't even think there is a debate at this point.

jumping back from the cage after being tossed and then getting that knee to the body? For sure it will take you down no matter how perfect you are in taking shots!

The mean thing about body shot knock downs is that you are paralized and unable to do anything, but you stay conscious, feel the pain and are aware of all the beating you get in the following. Sometimes it's really more comfortable to just get KOed and sleep until the fight gets stopped.

Just watching Bonnar's face as he went down was enough evidence that the knee was devastating.

funny how he could retire now and be the GOAT to most people while still not fighting the best opponent available to him.

I've been hit in the solar plexes like that. Paralyzed is a very good description for it. You take a shot just below your breast bone, all the air from your entire body is just gone. It sucks. I'd much rather take 15 punches to the face and jaw than 1 solid one to the body.
