except for Dan
Sorry oldfan, but I don't see a guy who can't defend the triangle ever holding a belt he didn't buy. You back this up yourself with the Mr. Custer vid. It's going to be a suicide mission.

I wanted to see Hendo fight Jones because Dan is a legend not just in his own mind. Whomever came out of that fight with the strap would have a stronger claim to goathood. I would pay for that fight. I will not be paying to see Jones vs Fhael.

It's just going to be Kos vs GSP all over again.
I agree with both of you. Shogun will make quick work of Gus, thus I do not believe he is worth mentioning as a contender for Jones.

Apart from someone from a different division stepping up to the challenge (i.e. Anderson Silva or Cain Velasquez), or someone from outside the UFC (i.e. Gegard Mousasi), Hendo, Machida and Shogun are really the only three with a possibility to upset the champ.

Kind of...

I dont see anyone having much of a shot, but i always love the build up to Sonnen fights. He always makes me start to think he will win.

I will watch the fight; should be entertaining.

I wanted to see Jones vs Silva (sounding like a broken record here).

The way this seemed to play out is just getting more bizarre..

Jones is injured from the Vitor fight; hence the coaching gig. Post UFC 153 Anderson Silva was adamant that he would not fight Jones...now it's a maybe?

Silva also said recently that he didn't want to fight Weidman..because he's "too young"?

This is just getting to silly to follow. - Anyone want to clarify what I'm missing here? Bad translation or just inconsistency?

Ripped from the Sherdog front page:

http://tinyurl.com/8ky8hp6

"Mixed martial arts’ most talked about dream fight might still have a chance to become reality.

Anderson Silva, who once claimed that it would be "impossible" for him to face Jon Jones, for the first time admitted that the fight could happen. At a promotional event on Thursday, the middleweight champion reiterated that he did not want to face Jones, but said that the fight is in the hands of the UFC.

"People are talking so much about this fight ... I have no such intention, it isn't something that motivates me, just because we have other athletes on my team who are in his weight division. My weight is 185 pounds; this is my title. But people talk so much, and we are UFC employees,” Silva said. “Of course, I can say that I don't want it, but what if he goes there and accepts the money that Dana will give him to take the fight? It'll be difficult. It's not the money that motivates me to fight. I fight because I like it.

“So, I don’t know,” he continued. “I wouldn't like it. But if it happens, it would be at a catch-weight -- not for the belt. I already have mine, and I do not want to leave a title dropped."

When asked if he would be favorite in a fight against Jones for having defeated Vitor Belfort and Stephan Bonnar faster than the American, Anderson downplayed the victories.

"At home we have a tree of ‘almost.’ Never give anything, always is almost. When you go to fight a champion, you have to be physically and psychologically prepared to face a champion,” Silva said. “[There is a reason] he is the champion. You have to train hard and be prepared. You must have a champion's mind to fight a champion. You can't have a loser’s mind. All champion’s opponents must have the mind of a champion, not just a challenger."

Always supporting:
Forrest
Machida
Wandy
Velasquez

Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones is the best match-up the UFC has ever been able to arrange. Here's to hoping it goes down.

Chael is hilarious. "I'm better than Jon Jones, i'm better than Sean Combs, I'm better than Jon Holmes!"

Whatever, Chael. It's over for him and his hype. All I can see when I think of Sonnen is him sitting on his arse, petrified as Silva loomed over him. Cowering as that brutal knee broke him completely. It's was embarrassing. I never expected to ever see Chael motionless like that.

You are not "the man" Chael. You are a big girls blouse.

No. This fight makes absolutely no sense and no matter the reason, it was a pisspoor decision by the UFC.

Should be Hendo vs Jones.

Except he has already said that line against Bisping. Maybe he should right down some new material. Needs to dip back in the WWE jar.
